We drove over three hours from Brooklyn, New York to Waltham, Massachusetts to go to this restaurant. We’ve heard they has very good Ugandan food. My husband and I had all foods with a chicken stew and my husband has the fish. The fish wasn’t that great, but everything else was ok. The food wasn’t worth the drive, but it’s one person’s opinion. We also bought some Mandazi. Those were really good.

Delicious Ugandan food just off the river in Waltham! It was first time at Karibu, so we asked for an assortment of their dishes. Our favorite ended up being a stewed beef dish (paired excellently with their peanut sauce) and the collard greens “slaw” which was one of several dishes served alongside. We’ll be back to try the rest of their menu!

I had a mixer plate with an option of boiled rice, beans, mixed vegetables and a side of Irish. The total cost was $15, which can be pricey on a student budget. Also once you pay in the vicinity of $15 you start looking at items such as ambiance etc which the place could definitely do better.

Absolutely loved the service and good. They have a small menu, each item is cooked fresh daily. We had the beef, chicken, and vegetarian samosa. Highly recommend getting multiple for yourself, they are flaky and delicious. For mains we got fish stew, beef stew, chapatis, beef rice and vegetable sides. We got a spicy hot sauce to put on everything and it was amazing I plan to buy a bottle the next time. We finished the meal off tea!

I’ve never felt so taken care of – instead of a menu, we were told what was available and what was good today. Staff is soooo friendly and helpful. We had Ugandan beef and veggies samosas chicken in coconut milk sauce, rice and beef, mixed veg . . . So so so good!

If you are a college student or a greater Boston area resident and haven’t been here, that’s your loss. Incredible home cooked, authentic Ugandan cuisine and a very family friendly spot. You will find all of the Sharon’s and Karen’s at in a pickle, or some low bar / overpriced Italian restaurant nearby and not know you are missing an incredible gem of a restaurant. Gf and I got beef stew (fell off the bone and the broth is divine), vegetables (loaded with spices and is honestly amazing by itself), spicy beef samosa (legitimately better than any text you get back from a girl), chapatis and Ugali. Next time I’m here I’m all in for the desserts. Don’t forget to finish with a Chai. This place makes all of Moody’s hotspots look like McDonald’s. 100/10

It’s like stepping into Uganda, the food is excellent. My girlfriend (who is Ugandan) says it reminds her of home! If you want the authentic Ugandan experience, go for the matoke (steamed banana-esque plant, somewhat starchy) with groundnut sauce (Ugandan peanuts).

Best food I’ve ever had in my life. The service was outstanding and the food brought literal tears to my eyes. The effort, time, and care put into the food is obvious. Each dish is freshly made each day, no canned ingredients. The environment is warm and friendly and comforting.
