They have a house hot sauce that is beyond good, if you enjoy hot flavors going here just for that you will be happy. Been in 4 or 5 times since they opened, standard fair I recommend the street tacos, but always fresh and prepared well.

Well seasoned traditional Mexican food. Ordered the chicken ACP w/ shrimp. The rice was delicious. Though well seasoned the protein was dry. Very good chips and salsa!

Been in and around the Jamestown area for quite a few years and I remember when this establishment was called pennys seafood. It is now a Mexican restaurant which are always my fav’s. So had to check out this new place and give it a try. The inside is very well clean, I’m talking super clean like your mama cleaned it up and made it super nice. Although it seems a little wide open inside ,I can respect that since were still in a pandemic so I give the owners props for that, so you definitely won’t feel cramped. The food was very delicious and tasteful, and portion size was very generous, plus as always I gotta rate the chips and salsa and they were also tasty. I really liked the steak that I ordered, it was well seasoned and their rice and beans were on point. I’ll definitely swing back by from time to time to try this place out some more. Their menu items are massive so you’ll have lots to choose from. So come on Jamestown community / gboro / high point let’s give these folks some business.

Don’t order carry out! First, and last, time. I ordered a Grilled Shrimp Bowl with black beans. Take a look at the picture. Do you see black beans? Or rice and pico de gallo (see menu)? Also, why are there tomatoes in my “bowl”? The grilled shrimp was yummy (the only reason for the three stars). They packed some yummy tortillas, but no salsa! They weren’t even busy when I picked up…such a disappointment.

El Agavero opened in February in the former Penny’s location, from which it inherited plenty of space but a dated look and feel. Going by appearances, there is nothing that would separate El Agavero from several other interchangeable bog-standard Mexican eateries in the area. That, however, would be selling this restaurant considerably short.

Do Not order from here!! I ordered the Steak Fajitas which came with rice, beans, and the Mexican salad. To my surprise, While eating the rice I found a strand of hair. This was my go to for Mexican food in my area, but this is extremely unacceptable and disgusting.

This was our first time dining here. We expected the food to be better based on most of the reviews. We assumed it would be as good as the other Mexican restaurants in the area. Sadly, that is not the case. We played it safe and ordered the combination dinners. It took quite awhile for the food to arrive and unfortunately unlike other Mexican restaurants the waiter didn’t say “hot plate” when he delivered our food. Therefore, food was not hot. The food lacked flavor. They definitely need to use more seasoning to improve the taste and quality. The refried beans had no flavor at all and were very runny. The margaritas and salsa were good. The waiter did a pretty good job keeping up as it appeared he was the only server at the time. I hope they will make changes based on reviews. Otherwise, we will stick to the Mexican restaurants we usually go to.

Tried this place out with my husband and son today. We typically go to laha but are willing to give other places a shot. The wait for drinks and food was rather slow considering there weren’t many people in the establishment. Food was mediocre. Not a place I’ll return to. Glad I gave it a shot but not a fan of the place. The chicken was also a weird texture. Almost like it fell apart to mush after 2 bites. In my opinion it’s worth the drive to Greensboro to go to laha.
