Dexter’s Birdland is an offshoot of Sal’s Birdland, a restaurant born and maintained in Rochester, New York, for over forty years. Sal’s has had a great history of providing quality product and good service for years, and still to this day. Pastor Dexter Sanders had first-hand experience with Sal’s as he and his family grew up enjoying their food and service. We specialize in American food, including sassy chicken wings and potato wedges, the very best in town!

The wings were amazing maybe the best non Buffalo wings I have ever had. The Sassy sauce was money! Saw some one post that the greens were like glory greens that wasn’t my experience. Could have used a touch of hot sauce but once I put the sassy sauce on them it was perfect. The staff was friend and warm. We came in while they had an event and they were happy to have us. Definitely will go there again and bring more people with me to try Dexters wings!

I am a native of Rochester, NY where “the Birdland” way of making wings, ribs, and wedges became the only way for me and my tastebuds. I moved to Florida three years ago and I’ve craved the wings. Finally my tastebuds are satisfied. Dexters Birdland gave me the authenticity and experience that only comes from “the Birdland!” The food was everything. I had the wings, with wedges and macaroni salad. My friend had the ribs with wedges and macaroni and cheese. DELICIOUS. I’m excited that they offer fried fish as well as Soul Food Sundays (oxtails, pork chops etc). If you are in the Orlando area and you need food marinated to perfection and all around delicious. Please support Dexter’s Birdland. If your a Rochesterian living in the Orlando area- get there- it’s a little piece of home. FYI the wedges should be dipped in the sauce, no need for ketchup.

I can’t stop thinking about it. That’s how good it is. I can’t wait to go back. I don’t eat meat regularly. If anything, I always try to replace meat when I can. I’ll make an exception when I visit Dexter’s. I lived in Atlanta and have had to some decent offerings when it comes to soul food. Dexter’s can go toe to toe with any one of them. Go here before it’s impossible to get a foot in the door after waiting for an hour. I bow to the chef. The collard greens? Best ever. The baked beans? Perfect. The fried chicken? Scrumptious. It’s made with love. What else do you want?

Superb establishment owned by an HBCU grad (Wilberforce) and we (Tuskegee alum) were recuperating from our homecoming activities and put the bat signal out about a spot to get some good food and FAMU/FSU alum told us about Dexter’s Birdland. The chicken was seasoned to perfection; the greens reminded me of my uncle’s; the ribs fell off the bone; the potato wedges were perfectly prepared; then the secret bbq sauce was on point! Phoenix, Melbourne and Orlando was in the building. We’re definitely coming back!
