With only her mother’s home-cooked recipes, Kay Yun (chef/owner) and husband, Chi Yun, founded Momoyaki in 2008 to relieve their nostalgia for home. Like any authentic Korean home-cooked meal, the taste and quality depend on its spices and sauces. Unlike many options available in Gainesville, Momo’s owners take pride in producing all of their sauces and stocks in-house with only the highest quality ingredients. This restaurant is very relaxed and easy-going. In the building interior and the outside porch are in so-so shape. It’s nice to be on the porch, may be a little loud, because close to the road. The service was good and quick. The food was delicious and well presented. A large selection is a big plus. Excellent price on sake. I would recommend to anyone to visit.

We had dinner here on Jan 22, 2023. The place is a bit dark when you come in, perhaps that’s just to focus the highlight the food? It is fantastic. We had only had Korean food once before, in LA, it was grilled at the table. This place has a wide assortment, from a sushi bar to grilled items to hotpot and bowls. Really great food!

My husband and I are alumni’s of UF and came drop off our daugther off to school. Proud parents and surprised by the growth of Gainesville in the last 25 years, we were staying and ELO HOTEL (highly recommend as well) we looked for something near by and this please blew out taste buds off. The Korean beer was amazing … and the por belly was saw tender and tasty .. our server was very nice and explained the menu to us and all of his recommendations were on point. I will come back every time I come see my daughter.

Truly a gem. You are greeted by a warm hostess who genuinely cares and takes you to your seat. A seating area that looks really nice but yet friendly and carefree to bring the kids to. The seating areas can accommodate a couple, family, corporate lunch, and yet feels casual. You also see touches of pictures of family, staff, and ancestry around the place. It is really a nice touch. It makes it feel warm and genuine. Now the food is so amazing and it makes me proud to eat because they do a really great job in balancing modern and yet traditional dishes. I had the pork belly, tempura cheesecake and ate from my dates plate too. Which was just as amazing. Definitely a must restaurant if you want great authentic Asian food in a warm atmosphere.
