Operated by Chef Ted Liberda, this Overland Park concept brings together the complementary flavors of Northeastern Thai cuisine and Kansas City BBQ.
With an emphasis on brisket and smokey meats, Buck Tui BBQ utilizes traditional Thai techniques and methods to achieve the familiar smokey-salty-sweet barbecue we Kansas Citians love. The use of palm sugar, Thai smoking practices, and authentic sauces require the type of precision and experience Liberda is known for. Heavenly seasoning on flame-smoked meats paired with sticky rice and papaya salad will bring new invigoration and excitement to the barbecue scene in town.

Buck Tui was absolutely amazing!!! It exceeded our expectations in every category! (And our expectations were high!) Our drinks were outstanding! Our food blew our minds! (In a good way!) Out server was fabulous! If you like Thai food and BBQ you will love this place! We even loved the music that was playing! We cannot wait to come back next time we visit KC!

It’s nice when you find a restaurant that’s different from all the others; especially in Overland Park where it can be difficult to find a restaurant that isn’t part of a major chain. Enter Buck Tui. Blending two foods I love (BBQ and Thai) into one amazing meal. The Thai food is some of the best Kansas City has to offer. The BBQ isn’t Joe’s or Q39, but I don’t think it’s trying to be. The BBQ is tastefully used, in the case of the drunken noodles and pad Thai I tried to add a new level of flavor to dishes we know and love. The BBQ, however, was better than most other BBQ establishments in the KC area which is incredible. The pictures don’t do this place justice. We should support adventurous restaurants like this who try something different and excel at it.

We were simply blown away. The food is off the charts good. Warning for those with Shellfish allergies, tell your server because some dishes use oyster sauce. They can accommodate your allergy though! The appetizers stole the show! My husband asked if we should just come in one night and put down as many of the brisket Rangoons (6. Only 4 in my picture because we were so excited to eat before I remembered to get a photo) as possible. The tiger cry beef was so incredibly delicious and the tiger cry was spicy! I got a drunken noodles as is and he got the X Man sandwich. All the food was amazing and a lot of food for the money you’re spending. I went home with over half of my drunken noodles. I didn’t see it on the menu but upon request, I got a Thai Iced Tea. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

I was underwhelmed with my experience at Buck Tui BBQ. I received some impressive recommendations to try it out from friends and family, but it missed the mark for me. If you do decide to try out Buck Tui, you must try the Brisket Rangoon’s – this appetizer is delicious and has potentially game changing flavor.

AMAZING food. Definitely would eat here again, although the spice level sometimes is more than others. Highly recommend the nacho appetizers, pork belly, dumplings, and butter squash wings. Pineapple rice was bland but ribs were amazing.

I loved everything about this place. Sarah was our server and she was perfection! The Brisket Rangoon (I ATE THEM SO FAST I COULDNT GET A PICTURE!!!) we’re DELICIOUS! The drunken noodles with brisket was AMAZING but I forgot to snap a picture! Everything on the menu is AMAZING! Ask for sauces and dress up your dish for added flavor. You will not be disappointed!

A very unique and progressive take on BBQ. A mix of KC style bbq and East Asian cuisine. I very highly recommend Buck Tui. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is that of a nice trendy sit down establishment. Reservations would be wise.

The food is not what you’re familiar with, so don’t expect it to taste like other Thai places you’ve been to. (I did, LOL) I appreciate that it’s different. I really enjoyed the dishes we ordered. The curry was my favorite. (You must try it.) I really liked the chili oil/paste they incorporated into the nachos. As for the tiger cry salad, the beef was a bit too salty for me, but overall, the salad was good. The lime dressing kinda helped balanced it out.

Great Thai and KC BBQ place. It’s good food and I’d come here with friends because of the variety of food. It is not the place where I would come for Thai dinner or a KC bbq. Try smoked chicken wings. The food is expensive.
