I had a chance to meet the better half downtown for lunch today. We were limited on time and driving anyplace was going to be a logistical problem for us. So, we decided to give Fanelli’s Deli a try. The proprietors were characters. They were playful and engaging with everyone that walked in. I tried the Rueben, one of my first go-tos when I am at a new sandwich place. My wife went for the Italian. The Rueben was outstanding. The bread was spicy and paired perfectly with flavorful pastrami. The sauerkraut was tangy and acidic without being a punch to the face, and there was just enough sauce to make sure you had to lick your fingers every couple of bites. I conned myself into one bite of the Italian and found it equally well balanced. With the quality of the food and the characters who work there, the place is worth a visit. The fact we had our food in a couple of minutes and were able to enjoy it in a warm, comfortable atmosphere ensures we will be back.

The sandwiches here are pretty good but they are expensive for what you get. I understand being downtown, their overhead is probably high so they gotta charge a bit more. But there is an older gentlemen running the cash register that I believe is the owner and just is not very friendly and frankly rude. I quit going because I just got annoyed with the weird comments he would make. I don’t know if he realizes but his New York attitude sticks out like a sore thumb in Tennessee..

I was so excited when this place opened because we are from western NY just like the owners. The subs are , beef on weck is , they carry items that you can only find in WNY. This will definitely be one of our normal go to spots!

I wish I could give 6 stars! I made a second trip (my first being their opening day) today. Have you been to Fanelli’s Deli+Market? You DO NOT know what you’re missing. Their made to order sandwiches are out of this world insanely delicious! I had the Italian with extra dressing. My mouth exploded in an oralgasm – read that carefully. Stock up your pantry with Italian yummies, like these 2 additions to mine.
