This is the worst location, and only unpleasant experience I have had with El Vaquero restaurants. I will stick to the one a little further away in Shawnee Hills (makes no sense why they have 2 so close to each other anyway). We entered, and there were 3 ladies at the bar, only 1 other table seated. They sat us rather quickly, but it was downhill from there. Even with a nearly empty restaurant, they weren’t the least bit attentive, which you can see from the picture of the bar and open dining area, that their focus was on their personal conversations. We had to request to place an order, no refills offered on water, and while we sat for 10min trying to make eye contact with someone to get our check and boxes, they continued to chat with each other. The food was delicious as always, although the carnitas was about 75% thick, greasy, gelatinous fat, and 25% tender meat. Guac was amazing!

Everything was great, except for the loud music. As far as food, we’ve been to most of the El Vaqueros in central Ohio, and this one has the best food, hands down. Now, if they could reduce the music volume so I could hear the sever, it would be fantastic,!

When I come to El Vaq I always get a chicken taco salad. Today is the first time I’ve gotten it to go. It was good, however my shell was burnt all around the top. Made for an unpleasant taste. I’ve never had a burnt shell.

Came here an hour before close, they had decided they were closing early tonight, then they decided not to honor my coupon as it’s for “dine in only” when we were sitting at the bar eating and only leaving so they could go home early. Never again, go to Tomatillos a couple minutes down the street. Better food, better service and better prices.

My wife offered to bring food home to me from a Mexican restaurant and I love Mexican. I saw that it was from El Vaquero from the bag and was immediately disappointed. I have been here about 5 times with friends and have never had good food. I ordered three tacos. How can you mess up tacos? I would rather eat at Taco Bell than pay an exorbitant amount of money for this place.

Rip off. I asked for less ice. Last time it was overfilled with ice and so watery. More then have half the drink is ice. Rip off. Food ok. But has gotten worse ever visit. Don’t waste your time. There are way better place.

(Updated) I came back since Los Jimadores changed owners and changed names and it’s been a big improvement! I came at an off time but the food was way better than it had been when this place was still Amigos. The steak in my food was seared perfectly and excellently seasoned. A marked improvement. The decor is nicer and the seating is much more open. It’s still not my favorite Mexican restaurant within 10 miles but it’s become a much more desirable option. I can at least say it’s the best tex-mex north-west Columbus has to offer.
