Jim “The Cheesesteak Guy” Pappas
I ordered a cheese steak with fried onions and ketchup. I took it to where I was parked on 16th Street and had a trunk picnic. No ants, just lanternflies. I would put this cheesesteak in the popi store category. The meat was a little thicker slice so you had to chew it and taste it. It was a very standard cheesesteak and $7.95 I am not going to hate it.

Great food at a fantastic price! I work in Center City and goodness knows there are a LOT of food options. Bubby’s though, is one of my absolute favorites. There are no tables, so be prepared for takeout only. The food though, is great, and the service is friendly. The owner and chef, “Bubby” (no, he’s not your grandma) is extremely accommodating. He’ll customize your food just about any way you want it. Be prepared for lines, though. This place is well known to the locals and we aren’t afraid to wait for good food. If you know you want to try it, I recommend calling ahead. Don’t be put off when they answer the phone by saying, “Brisket.” That means you’ve called the right place.

Brisket??? Merely a roast beef or something….brisket sandwich had carrots and other vegetables stewed in… try another sandwhich….but the seasoned fries are oooohhh weekend good

I was in the mood for a pulled Brisket sandwich and a quick Google introduced me to this little gem located two blocks from my work. How I’ve managed to remain oblivious to Bubby’s for so long is a mystery – it’s something I’ve been looking for since I started working in Center City. I ordered a brisket and cheese sandwich and was delighted when a short time later I was presented with a huge Italian roll stuffed with a healthy portion of melt in the mouth brisket and provelone. 8 bucks in total, an absolute bargain.
