What you expect for airport or grocery store sushi. Expect because it’s in the airport, the prices are really high. Expect to pay over $13 for one roll that would normally be $8 at a grocery store. There is a self checkout for quick service.

Two stars are really given for the convenience of take and go & the self-serve check out. I’m always for fresh sushi but time was not on our side after an awful experience at the airport’s Panera on the other side of the terminal.. so we grabbed this as it looked delicious. The seaweed salad was good. Can’t really go wrong there but the sushi was completely tasteless, with the exception of the one that I thought was covered in tempera.. it was actually canned fried onions. Gross. All it taste like was green bean casserole, which I only like as green bean casserole, not as a sushi roll. The meat did seem fresh but even doused in soy sauce, it just had really no taste. Definitely a hard pass next time. $42 down the drain on two meh Bento boxes.

Staff was very rude and unprofessional. I was traveling through the Charlotte Airport and food court was full. I sat at one of there empty tables not realizing it was a different establishment. The waitress asked me what I wanted and I said no thanks I’m fine. She replied, “Oh no, this is a sushi restaurant not a lounge. The food court is over there.” She pointed me out of their area. I might add that there was only one occupied table in their area. She could have approached that much better. A simple “I’m sorry sir but you have to order or I’m not allowed to let you sit here.” Would have ran much more smoothly. Food may be great, I wouldn’t know and now I never will.

Pros: service is speedy and it’s located next to the live pianist for a great ambiance anytime of day. It’s the best food/service/ambiance combo I’ve had within the CLT airport. Shoutout to Ed for phenomenal service!

Paid for ready made sushi and was haughtily told by an employee I had to do self-check out and sit away from the regular diners because I didn’t opt-in for their dine in service. The sushi was alright for airport style, I just didn’t appreciate their servers attitudes and not being able to sit down at Hissho.

7/3/2023 The rude, discourteous and unfriendly staff doesn’t make up for the average sushi. Was asked to leave the completely empty restaurant, where the staff were sitting there doing nothing excepting sitting in the same space gossiping – because I wasn’t eating, yet. And now I never will be. CLT should close this place.
