To start, it took 40 minutes to get our food. That’s outrageous. I know they cooked it fresh to order, but I don’t believe I’ve ever waited so long for Thai food – anywhere. If the food was worth the wait I would be much more forgiving, but it definitely wasn’t. I ordered the green curry which was totally lacking in flavor. It kind of tasted like the curry I’ve attempted to make at home that just never tasted good, so I stopped trying. My husband got the mango curry and it was the same – bland and boring.

Fried rice tastes good and has the aromatic “breath of the wok”, especially the egg. But it is a little bit too salty, or else it would be perfect. Phad Thai tastes all right, average. Overall worth a try.

Unlike any pad thai I’ve had before with a brown sauce. Quantity was good and wasn’t dry and lifeless like some pad thai I’ve had before but not the flavor profile I expect.

Tucked away in a little food court just up the hill from Paniolo Greens is this tasty little Thai place. Very casual, kinda bougie, really good.

Is it even Thai food if it tastes nothing like Thai food? I come here so infrequently that I forget its bad. I love Pad See Ew and every time I’ve had Thai food ANYWHERE else, its basically been the same dish. At Racha Thai, there is no delicious dark sauce coating the noodles, the tofu was reheated and soft, and the veggies were just OK (mostly broccoli with a couple pieces of pepper). I’m not sure what cookbook they’re using, but it’s time to update it.

I got their pad thai with tofu. Tasted good. Definitely different than the pad thai I usually get in Pittsburgh. Medium spice level was pretty tolerable, frankly milder than I was expecting coming from the Thai places in Pittsburgh (not meant as a criticism, just an observation).

Friendly employees, food is great. Portion wise is on the small side for the price you pay. I would have given them 5 star if it’s not for the portion n the price.

Excellent food. Organic chicken and tofu. Gluten free everything. Pumpkin curry is unique and tasty. Pad Thai is really good with tofu or shrimp. Pineapple fried rice is delicious and we always have leftovers for the next day. Places around Kona are pricey compared to probably a fair amount of mainland cities and towns and Racha Thai is no exception, but the food is really yummy and worth it compared to other local establishments that charge just as much. Call ahead to order as you’ll probably be waiting in line for a bit depending on the time you go. Also I don’t like things super spicy but I can handle medium just fine.
