I took my residents from Alders Magnolia to eat lunch at Mallett Brothers BBQ and it was amazing! Everyone loved their meal. I mean everyone! That rarely happens. I had the ribeye and oh wow! I have not had a steak that good in a very long time! I definitely suggest it! This will be a regular stop for us when we go on trips in that direction! Amazing!

My husband and I ordered the fried catfish plate on a Saturday afternoon. Our french fries were cold and the pieces of fish on my platter (while tasty) consisted of pieces with mostly fried breading. My husband’s plate did have beautiful chunky pieces of fish. The young lady who was the cashier did a terrible job in letting us know where utensils were, inquiring if we would like tarter sauce, would we like a receipt, etc .

The BBQ is very good. The brisket and ribs are smoked to perfection. For sides, I like the potato salad or the mac and cheese. My husband likes the green beans. The burgers are also worth the wait if you have the time. I deducted one point from atmosphere because the only things they show on the TVs are news (Fox) and sports.

Normally really good. But lately, not sure what’s going on! Tonight placed order for 3 meat plate of BBQ and steak dinner. Was told that if I got a baked potato, I didn’t get a salad. That was rectified when we picked up. The steak was ordered as medium and it was rare and they did not give us the BBQ plate at all. I called and was told that we would have a credit for it next time we went in.

I chose brisket and the jalapeño-cheese sausage for my two meat plate, which came with two sides. I thought it was a pretty fair price (I think it was about $13), and the meat was wonderful! The guy who put the plate together raves about the sausage, so I figured I should go with it, and I’m glad I did! It was great. Their BBQ sauce is really good as well, and has a strong vinegar flavor, which I highly enjoy. Before I went I contacted them to see if they put soy sauce in their BBQ sauce, because of my gluten allergy. They said that they don’t, which meant that I could enjoy the BBQ sauce! The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice and clean.

This was my second trip to Mallet brothers bbq. I had an excellent chicken fried steak last visit, and a brisket baked potato this visit. Prices are very fair, and portions are large. The staff is very friendly and have treated me well both visits. If you’re in Navasota I recommend a visit.
