Atmosphere is nice but the host was very rude. You’d expect someone who’s the “face” of the restaurant to walk in to be warm and welcoming but this guy wasn’t at all. Snowy Saturday with 2 other parties here when we walked in (mostly empty) and he sat us at a table near the door so when it opened the cold air blew directly on us, so we politely asked to move. If the restaurant was full with people we obviously wouldn’t have asked to move but we didn’t think it was a big deal since it was empty and the host showed he was annoyed and was rude about our request. After this we debated leaving but really wanted to try the food here. The food was amazing glad we gave this place a chance but I think I’d pass next time if the host is always that hostile. Our server was nice but almost 0 personality. The host pours waters and leaves them out for long periods of time before the tables are seated. They leave cream out in glass containers on the tables which is a little concerning for food safety. Would come again for the food alone or get takeout but definitely on the lower service scale for a Portland restaurant.

The TINY $20 grilled octopus appetizer was cold and virtually uncooked, and the Paella was not only a smaller portion than expected, but also contained ENTIRELY different ingredients from the photos. No Calamari, No Crab legs, barely any white fish, and LITERALLY only 2 scallops. It was mostly rice for $50. Would’ve gladly payed more for the entree that is depicted in their profile photos! The waitress was really sweet though, but this restaurant’s food is simply sub-par.

We wandered in on our anniversary with no reservation (a Friday night!) and nabbed one of the last tables. The service was exceptional from the warm greeting at the host stand to the water glasses never dipping below half full. The server offered great recommendations and made us feel at home. The food was exquisite. Paella was mind blowing. The house bread was fantastic. The steak skewer tapas dish was tasty but a little small. The papas frites were right on. Can’t wait to go back and try the sangria.

This could have been a 5 star review but the one thing I noticed in Portland was multiple restaurants either running out of dishes or not letting customers know they have ran out of dishes! It’s a huge pet peeve of me mine. So owners train your staff and also it’s 2023 if it’s not a special and it’s a main dining night you should NEVER run out of the dish. PERIOD
