This place was absolutely delicious! We had the typical Nica carne asada platter with gallo pinto, plantains and fried cheese. It did NOT disappoint. The meat was super tender, moist, and flavorful. We are so happy to have authentic Nicaraguan food in town!

BEWARE!!! The food was TERRIBLE and it tasted stale and refried and the stuffed tortillas were pretty hallowed inside, our Tamarido and Chia drinks were water down, and I ended up stabbing the inside of my mouth with 2 tooth picks that were fried inside my tortillas!!! The female owner was overwhelmed and the place was empty, at noon, the Music was BANGING! and the food is over priced and BAD quality. This place is great for over all bad food, service and Drunks. We brought it up to the owner and she just didn’t care or had any concerns, she said that the tortillas are served with toothpicks in order to keep them closed and that she missed removing them before serving them. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN!!! No one deserves to bleed from the inside of their mouth after getting stabbed by invisible toothpicks!!! And it was after we got home that we realized that a 20% tip had been added to our credit card payment after still leaving an undeserving cash tip.

Everything was amazing! From the service to the food, it has a family feel you can’t get everywhere. You can tell they care about what they make for you! Great little spot which can be missed but you are missing out. If you want authentic Nicaraguan food and you’re in the Tampa/St Pete/Pinellas area, make the trip to El Tio Nico!

Finally an authentic Nicaraguense eatery in the Pinellas County area! I would usually travel to Tampa to get some NICA food and it wasn’t even great. El Tio Nica has really exceeded my expectations! It was my first time here since the new owners took over and absolutely LOVE how authentic, fresh, and delicious the food is. The owner is incredibly sweet and even made modifications to my order at my request. Totally telling all my family and friends about this place. If I can rate this place 10 stars I would!

It’s been so long since I’ve had a good plate of authentic Nica food! The portions are generous, the carne asada is tender and full of flavor. El tío even came to our table and made sure everything tasted superior. You will not regret it if you come here for a delicious meal!

I went to this restaurant with my family, we loved the food and the service. It is family owned and run and it was great talking to the owners, they were really nice and friendly. Food was amazing it tasted more like home cooked meal than restaurant food. They have great samplers for those who are not familiar with Nicaraguan food. My family tried some things for the first time and we liked everything we tasted.

Moving to Florida we were searching and searching for a Nicaraguan restaurant for the longest. Well we finally found one close to us! Annd not only is it minutes away the food is amazing! Carne asada con gallo pinto is the best. Will be returning soon.
