Oh my goodness… Maaaan what can I say? I grew up in Farmville North Carolina beside a hog parlor. I’ve eaten some BBQ fo sure! The best of it never comes from a restaurant but from some old grizzle tooths pig cooker. It seems like its been decades since I’ve bit into some BBQ this good! Don’t let their A sanitation grade fool you – this BBQ is done right! Do yourself a favor and get you some.

We stopped here on a tractor ride. The loaded pulled pork fries were great. I had a side of collards, very tasty! The kids had cheeseburgers and hotdogs. I’d definitely stop again. Friendly service too!

Stopped here after a weekend in the mountains. My boys got the rib plates and seemed to enjoy them. I got the plate with pulled pork and brisket. Both were good as were the fries and okra. I’ve read some complaints about too much fat. There was just the right amount of fat on mine. If the pork was shredded a little more throughly I wouldn’t have even been able to tell there was any. Just realize you are going to a roadside barbecue stand with outdoor picnic tables way out of town. It’s excellently smoked meat, just not the place you go for extra amenities. Bring cash or check no cards. Again it’s a skilled dude with a smoker not a sit down restaurant.

Burly Bill’s is a hidden gem of roadside BBQ. The pulled pork is the softest and most flavorful I’ve had, with just enough burnt ends and not too much sauce. The brisket was excellent, too. The collards were chopped and cooked just enough (not mushy). The beans had a wonderfullly unique flavor, but I couldn’t put my finger on the special ingredient. The slaw is slightly creamy with a little kick; maybe Old Bay. If you love BBQ and are in Ashville or Chimney Rock, NC or Greenville, SC, it’s worth the drive to Burly Bill’s BBQ! Don’t forget to bring cash. Dig the pig!
