We had the pleasure of eating at Sam’s last week on a business trip to Downingtown. He opened the place in 1976 and it maintains that same vibe. My colleague and I both ordered a pizza cheese steak with pepperoni, onions and mushrooms. Wow! The bread and the love that went into making it! Make sure to save room for a stop at Sam’s next time you’re in town!

Sam’s is where you want to go if you want the best classic. It reminds of another Sam, The Garden Village in West Pittston. I can’t describe it. Nostalgia? Perfect amount of meat and cheese, fresh peppers , lettuce, tomato, and onion. Major thing is the roll. The roll makes or breaks a hoagie, here it shines like the rest. My advice, get the hot and sweet peppers on the side, same with the oil and vinegar. Don’t let someone else’s over/under abundance of condiments dictate the greatness of a hoagie.

If you are in Downingtown and you need a good cheesesteak, Sam is your cheesesteak man and possibly a pizza with ham. This was a very good pizza shop cheesesteak. Everything could have been a little better. Everything could have been a little worse. I think there were some grandkids running around. Very good overall experience.

We were visiting and looking for an authentic Philly cheese steak sandwich, we found it at Sam’s Pizza. The owners are very friendly and have been running the business for 47yrs. The decor looks original but that is part of the allure. We recommend taking the time to go to this place.

Finally had the opportunity to sample Sam’s menu. I have an affinity for pepperoni pizza steaks. Very rarely does the venue I choose get it right. Hands down, the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Fresh roll, equal amounts of steak to pepperoni, perfect ratio! 5 stars!!! Will be a repeat customer and give credit where it is due. Already told many how good the experience was. Keep up the good work, Sam!
