If you don’t speak chinese they will be very mean to you. Not just to me but two others that walked in. Recommended by locals so I thought I would try it. Confusing were to order carry out. Lady behind counter yelled at me in Chinese while I ordered pointing at menu. Pork was dry, ribs were mainly bone and chow main noodles burnt. Many other options, I will avoid ever walking in again.

The foods were average. Not too good but not too bad. The shrimp was good actually. The duck was a bit salty.

Good Hong Kong barbecue/ Chinese food. Their “Roast Duck with Black Truffle” is extraordinary and must try. Everything else is decent/ average. Good portion for the price, as is everything in this area. Expect to pay about $25-30 per person. I only recommend coming here for the “Roast Duck with Black Truffle” to-go.

Sam Woo has been our go to restaurant for HK food. There are several of them in the San Gabriel Valley. This location used to house one of them. This Sam Woo became the victim of the pandemic and closed its doored a few months ago.

This used to be Sam Woo and usually my quick go to place for Chinese BBQ pork. I love many of their dishes here and the seafood congee is surprisingly good! Price is on the higher end but it is still reasonable considering the size of the dishes.

I don’t know about this place but I felt humiliated when I requested some sauce for my meal but the two lady cashiers started to complain they were not supposed to give me the sauce if I only order two-item meal. I meant it’s the first time I tried this place. Chicken was not so good and too dry. I might not give it another try because of the experience.

This is one of the original Sam Woo BBQ restaurants and delis in the San Gabriel Valley. The name has changed a few times in the past decades, but the remnant still remains within the community.

Pretty authentic and reasonablly priced Cantonese foods. Portions were good for the price and service was attentive. Will come back to try more!

This location used to be Sam Woo restaurant our family came here very often for couple decades until the pandemic the Sam Woo can’t sustained then close for about 2 years when HK VIP Kitchen took over We came to try out the foods which was not that bad (3.5*-4*). Last weekend we came but the food tasted horrible and the waiter brought out the wrong dish. We ordered combo seafood noodles but he brought chicken noodles. I won’t come back here anymore to spend $100 for dinner. The original Sam Woo was gone & the beginning HK VIP Kitchen chef is acceptable until last weekend we found out was the new owner but the name is the same HK VIP Kitchen. I am not recommended. If you like authentic Chinese foods go somewhere else.

My mom isn’t happy with the prices on menu during dine-in at all. She claims a lot of the meats at BBQ section are not fresh at all, due to low turnover rate and higher prices, which automatically leads to fewer customers buying. It’s NOT a good risk to take for a business to start with high-price BBQs to sell, in order to keep food fresh and constantly moving inventory, and less waste into dumpster for any unsold BBQ meat.
