Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was founded in April of 2006 by Jose and Claudia Ursua. Jose and Claudia met over 24 years ago while working together at a Mexican restaurant, fell in love, and soon married. Both Jose and Claudia shared a dream of owning their own business, and after many years of hard work, dedication, and help from Claudia’s siblings, that dream came true. By combining their love of Mexican food and culture, Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was born.

This is my new go-to for Mexican food! I have been there many times and never had anything but spectacular food. I was rotating through the menu when I hit on the Asada Burrito and I can’t order anything but that delicious dish when I visit. The salsa always has a good heat to it and my wife is hooked on their Paloma’s fesh deliciousness although she ranks their Sangria high and their Margaritas as “fantastic”. The place is clean and the staff is always super friendly and very attentive. Special requests are never a problem.

Salsa very spicy and no mild option available. Guacamole bland. Water tasted like dirt. Entrees mediocre and margaritas lack luster. Don’t waste time going here.

After waiting for ever for chips and salsa after asking twice they finally decided to bring us some when they came to take our order . Staff was ok we had the lady that did are drinks who was very nice and asked if we needed anything else . Are waitress was only seen twice once for taking our order and the second time for bringing our food. The only good thing was the watermelon and mango margarita….

Food was great very fresh. No one was eating at the restaurant but our table of two, another sign the economy is going faster then expected. The price is another example of the economy getting worse. It was a little cold yesterday and sitting down I found myself freezing and was ready to leave, the heat would have been nice but it didn’t ruin the delicious food.

I came out to Denver for a trip to pick up my step dad we stopped to eat my service was very disappointing we set down an were waiting for over 10 minutes for just chips and Salasa. The table next to us that came after us had already been served with the drinks and chips. As I have no issue with tipping but I felt we did not have good service so I was not going to tip as much then I receive my check and over 19% gratuity is automatic I feel like they should say that before we sit down to eat because then the service is completely messed up because they automatically know no matter how bad they are they still get tipped. I would not recommend this place at all to no one.

Very nice restaurant, and wonderful staff. I have been there several times and usually get the same server…her dad also checked in on our table which made the place feel very family oriented and comfortable. THE FOOD THOUGH! Portales food is definitely a notch above the rest; they have a great happy hour menu and wonderful selections on the full menu. Everything is well seasoned and hot when served. I’ve lived in the metro area for 42 years and this is my “go-to” spot now.

I went to this restaurant to pick something up while I was waiting for someone. I was disappointed. My first disappointment was when they tried to charge $5 for a sofa. I said to take it off my bill because that was too much. The person taking my order got a little condescending with me. My second disappointment was the leathery “edible” bowl my taco salad came in. My favorite thing is eating a nice, crispy, fresh bowl a salad comes in. It was none of these. $14.50 was too for this lunch.
