This is a fun and excellent BBQ place! Kristy (not sure of spelling) greeted us with outgoing Texas friendliness and took our orders, carefully and patiently explaining the options and laughing at the jokes of our group of tourists from around the world. The food was excellent, as the reviews from others have already said. Experienced brisket lovers would probably rate the food as good to excellent, noting that brisket flavor is very personal and depends heavily on the rub, which is personal and often a closely guarded secret. In a special treat for our group, we were shown the smoker for the meat! The Shack BBQ is very highly recommended and if you’re in the area, this is a must visit/must see/must eat place!

I picked up my order for lunch on 2/9. I had the 3 meat plate with juicy brisket, chicken, and green chili sausage. The sides I chose were the collard greens and the loaded potato salad. I also had some spicy sauce on the side as well. The meats were delicious. I can’t even pick my favorite. They were all amazing. And both sides were great too! This was a fantastic meal for take out. I will be coming back for more.

I heard good things about The Shack and how they were among the best BBQ places, and I have to agree after going. The servers were very friendly, and the food was ready within a few minutes after ordering. We had a large group of students and we were all served quickly. The quality was top notch and I really appreciated how you could sample different BBQ sauces in cups. Would definitely come back if I were in this town again. – Robert

BBQ is in my opinion an art and the Shack in Lubbock, TX is a perfect example of this level of artistry. I was born and raised in Lubbock so I visit family at least two or three times per year. I now live in ABQ New Mexico where high level BBQ is hard to come by. During a recent trip to Lubbock, we wanted BBQ and looked up locations on Google. Top five was the Shack, it was located in our path going home so we stopped. We ordered two chopped brisket sandwiches, loaded potatoe salad, mac and cheese, bannana pudding, and apple pie cheese cake. Everything was made well, the brisket was exceptional, the sauce we chose was the regular sauce. (my opinion, sauce should compliment the flavor of the meat, NOT BE the flavor of the meat) This is a must go if you’re traveling from NM or any other location west of Lubbock. The staff was friendly and atmosphere very relaxing.
