Cotoletta Menu – Rochester, NY

Type : Italian restaurant

Location : Rochester, NY

Cotoletta is the culmination of a decades-long friendship between Rochester Real Estate Developer Jay W. and Executive Chef Jay Speranza.

Compelled by their love of Rochester’s old school delis, pizza shops and eateries, the Jays dreamed up a little joint that could serve as an ode to the city’s rich Italian culture and history.

Cotoletta, meaning cutlet in Italian, is a subtle dive into Rochester’s yesteryears. Complete with faux wood paneled walls, flickering old neon, and enough laminate and pleather to worry the EPA, Cotoletta feels as comfy as your Nonna’s old basement rec room.

So grab a pie, a sangwich, a cannoli, and a drink and fuhgeddabout life for a little while. Welcome to Cotoletta.

Based on 137 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price

First time visit and it was pretty good. We got a pizza and baked ziti with a meatball. Our total was around $60, which I thought for not being a full service restaurant was pretty expensive. Ended up really loving the food. The pizza was crispy and had tons of flavor. You could tell the food was made fresh with fresh ingredients. I was shocked that 1 meatball which was a typical sized meatball was $5, but it was delicious. Service was a bit slow, we had to ask for our drinks eventually, but staff was nice. We will absolutely go back though!

The food was good. The atmosphere was OK, reminds me a little of Jersey Shore. The sizes were small and it was extremely overpriced. It is a fast food restaurant with fine dining prices. When they brought out the pizza I thought it was an appetizer. It was $21! Way too high. Half a sandwich and a cup of soup was $15. It was good but not worth the cost.

Once again, Jay knocks it out of the park with his second restaurant (first being Tony D’s). Ordered greens and beans and the Paisano sandwich To-go, absolutely fantastic. Service was wonderful and friendly and the atmosphere, although we were only in briefly, is fantastic. This business alone should reinvigorate which was once an empty shopping plaza. Can’t wait to return and support a great local business and hospitable owner

My mom and I came here around 12:30 for lunch on Good Friday. As I expected, the place was packed! Awesome space – booths and bar seating available. We had to wait about 10 minutes or so for a table. We ordered at the counter and the food arrived maybe 10 minutes after ordering/sitting down. The sandwich was flavorful, with crispy chicken cutlet and an awesome cacio e pepe aioli (we got the “Eh! Paisano!”). The portions are HUGE – half of a sandwich was quite filling for me and my mom! We got the Rainbow Cookie Cake for dessert – delicious with “boozy cherries” on top. My mom thought it was too sweet, but I love all sweets 🙂 10/10 recommend and we will be back!

Great place! Popped in on a whim to try something different. Had the Italian Smash Burger! Wow what a sandwich! Highly recommend this one! Delicious! Oh and the girls working the counter were great! Ain’t nothing better than being greeted with a smile and being able to hang out and actually chit chat! Easy on the eyes too! A+++

Wow!!! We were very pleased with our first visit to Cotoletta! Don’t let the long line discourage you, it’s for a reason!!! Our larger group was seated in a timely manner considering the crowd and the number of ppl in the group. The food was phenomenal (we had a little bit of everything -The basic/Jerry Garcia/ italian parm fries/ Tues special/sangwiches) There’s a fun, high energy vibe with music, good food, and lots of talking/enjoyment. The cocktails were made well. The manager was amazing, she was all over the place checking to make sure everyone was taken care of. I love to see exceptional customer care and service. Highly recommended

The food was REALLY good. Got the Saturday special and the Uncle Junior. Both had really creative and DELICIOUS flavor concepts. The Espresso Martini was AMAZING!!! My black Manhatten was a bit on the strong side so I’m not sure if that really is a “complaint” at all. It was still really tasty. The decor is a little odd. Not a fan of the bar seats, or the wallpaper, but it didn’t ruin the atmosphere. The service is a little off in the sense that you don’t really have a “server” per say, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely going back soon.

I love this place. The food is terrific and has, hands down, some of the best customer service around. The fried food is ultra crispy without being greasy and every single thing I’ve had there has exceeded expectation. I have long been a fan of all things Jay Speranza and this is just another well-deserved achievement. I had a very slight situation last week based entirely on my personal preference (not at all a reflection of the restaurant) and the staff went above and beyond to address it for me which they absolutely did not have to do. I hope I’m spelling her name correctly, but Sonia was so kind and approachable and made what could have been an awkward experience, lovely. This was my sixth visit and I will say, I had noticed her during prior visits for her genuinely friendly demeanor, even among a room full of other genuinely friendly employees. I would also like to give a shout out to whomever was in the kitchen that day because they also went out of their way and as we were leaving took time to say something which, honestly, took us by surprise. I shouldn’t have been though, Jay has always been a class act and of course anyone that follows in his footsteps would carry themselves with that exact same level of customer service. Just wonderful, all around.

I Typically don’t write negative reviews however I felt compelled to. So we decided to give this place a try, we ordered the greens and beans for a starter(which was not served until the main course arrived) which was 45 minutes later(only 3 other people in the restaurant when we arrived) which I had to get up and ask where our food was. Was told that it was on the way, they had a shift change??(guy’s in the kitchen were lack luster and seemed more focused on talking than cooking)Food arrived portions were huge(should be for the pricing) got the rigatoni w/meatball, meatball was pretty good, sauce good but I could have made it at home for a fraction of the cost, eggplant parm overcooked, chicken cutlet sandwich was cooked well, had to ask for butter for our bread.
