Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning during the Back Forty Bluegrass Festival in May this year. We received a very friendly greeting. The menu offers a great variety of food. Our breakfast was delicious and prices were very reasonable. The staff are very friendly. My only recommendation would be more outside signage on the building. We actually passed it up and had to turn around. If we’re ever in the area again we will definitely stop by here again.

I had the meatloaf special. The meatloaf was great and especially loved the large portion and sauce. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good as well as the sweet tea and homemade vegetable soup. We were waited on by the cook herself tonight; and she and the two owners made us feel welcome, made sure everything was satisfactory, and thanked us for coming. We will definitely make the Spiced Apple Cafe a regular place to dine in Vandalia. We are very glad they reopened!

The food was great, the waitress/cashier was friendly, and it was pretty dead for a Friday night so service was pretty fast. The price was a bit high for two entrees, two sides, and two drinks which explains the 4 stars instead of 5. Best place in Vandalia to go for “home food”.

Avoid the pasta Carbonara! It takes 40 minutes and arrives with no sauce! Never will go back! They charged me half off on the menu price and then delivered it with no Alfredo sauce. My returned plate with my fork on top was returned to me over 5 mins later room temp with about 2 tablespoons of Alfredo across the now cold pasta
