The outside of the restaurant is deceptive. If it hadn’t been for Google reviews and a sense of adventure, we’d never gone in. I’m so glad we did! Obviously this is a locals well known secret. It was bright, clean, welcoming inside; much larger than it appeared. A fish market in front and enchanting tables ( 1940s/1950) behind. The food was extremely good. We got the crab and shrimp gumbo and the buttermilk fried shrimp. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. There is a huge bar almost the whole length of the room on one side. The food was delicious; the atmosphere above average – a bit chilly. Our wait person sometimes seemed overwhelmed once the place got busy, but she was pretty attentive. Prices are moderate. (Several items were dependent on the market price. ) There’s *nowhere* to park! However, if one loves seafood, I recommend Mongers and would go again.

I just had my 3rd trip to Mongers on Saturday for a bachelorette party I threw for my friend. We showed up early with our party of 10 and they sat us right away. Travis served us and he was awesome taking care of us and making sure we stayed hydrated with lots of water and wine. The oysters were divine as well as all our apps and entrees! I had the scallops and would recommend! All of us had an amazing experience and would highly recommend for big parties they handled it like pros!

Amazing dinner tonight! Best gumbo we’ve ever eaten. Red snapper is the signature dish and it was really great too. Add the Brussels sprouts. Great date night. Went early and sat at the bar. Wait staff was superb. Loved it and we will do that again!

Really incredible food and service!! Easily one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Everything was superb – the selection of east coast oysters was delightful, highly recommend the beau Soleil oysters from New Brunswick. The scallops and snapper were to die for. The desserts – key lime pie and a miso orange caramel topped flourless chocolate torte – were legitimately the best of their kind, so glad we saved room for dessert. They were *extremely* accommodating with my gluten allergy, and the menu inherently has many delicious gluten free options. Every item we tried had clearly been thought out carefully and made by people who enjoy their work. The server was knowledgeable about the entire menu and so welcoming. The only thing I would change would be to ask for larger portions, since it was all so good!

Mongers has been a favorite for a while. Usually stop in for great cocktails and oysters on the half shell. Recently visited with friends and had a fantastic meal. The tempura fried soft shell crab was best I can recall having, ever. Everything is exceptionally fresh and delicious. Only really minor complaint, the reservation system is weirdly persnickety and threatening when there’s nothing to be threatening about?? Otherwise nothing but great things to say about this place. Food and service are fantastic!
