1st time I’ve eaten there and it surely won’t be the last. Had the chicken on a bed of rice, with mash potatoes, brown gravey, salad, Texas toast. Probably the best drinks I’ve had in a long time. I’m stuffed with the best food I’ve eaten in a long time. I HIGHLY recommend the Outpost.

Five stars for the food and the atmosphere. But I dropped a star due to our server. She knew a few diners in the restaurant the day we were there and gave them so much attention she neglected us to some extent. She never refilled our drinks or asked how our meal was (though she passed our table often to chat with the table behind us as she clearly knew those people). When it was time for the check she simply dropped it off without stopping or saying thank you as she, again, was heading to chat more with the table behind us. It didn’t ruin our experience, but it was unprofessional and since it was our first visit it didn’t make a good impression. She was young and clearly in high school, so hopefully she will see this and maybe treat all her customers as well as she did the table behind us, whether she personally knows them or not. Likewise the owner (I am assuming) passed us right be on the way to the same table behind us to chat with those folks. Not a smile in our direction, not a “how are you enjoying your meal”?, nothing. It made us feel as if you had to be someone they know to be treated with a bit of friendliness and courtesy.

We went for lunch, I had the catfish, and cheese grits. The grits were a little thick and sticky but good. The fish was delicious and juicy. My granddaughter had a steak quesadilla. It was good. The portions were filling.

Server was very attentive. Our drinks were refilled promptly. I had the surf and turf and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was so juicy and seasoned so no steak sauce was needed. The Mac and cheese was so cheesy and delicious. The fried pickles were the best I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back and try something different.
