This restaurant got a complete makeover! The place has that fresh, new, clean feel, and the staff are accommodating (and Friendly). There’s plenty of room since the dining area is deep. I had a BLT that was crisp and well stacked (3″ sandwich) that came with fries. I’m making this a regular stop with the kids.

My cleints picked this spot for lunch and I ordered the aloha chicken stir fry. When I arrived to pick up the food, I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and was greeted. I paid and left when the food was ready. When I ate the stir fry was really good. It was filling and tasty. I enjoyed my meal.

Since I was a boy, now a father, always good. Shout out to our server, I think her name was Lindsey. After our meal, she asked if we wanted ice cream? I said, of course, this is Friendly’s. However, I only wanted a small Reece’s Pieces Sundae since not being as active at this age. When she brought this to our table, I said that’s the perfect size. Her reply was, “No charge” since it came with my son’s meal and he wasn’t having any ice cream. I would have never known and paid for it. Lindsey = Integrity – not many like that come along!

While traveling from Sussex County to Warren County, my daughter and I came across a Friendly’s. My daughter said she wanted a milk shake. And since she was driving I just nodded my head and within minutes we were ordering our milkshakes to go. We bought two large milkshakes for $13 (that includes my 15% veterans discount).

To me Friendly’s is classic and iconic. I remember it used to be my grandmother’s favorite place to stop for lunch and ice cream. I remember when my daughter was little a bowl of the clam chowder was her favorite. We stopped in the Newton location for lunch. We of course both ordered NE Clam Chowder which was delish. Hasn’t changed a bit. My husband got the “Legendary Honey BBQ Chicken SuperMelt”. It was yummy and he was impressed with the crispiness of the sandwich. I ordered the “Reuben Supermelt”. Again very tasty. The corned beef was lean and not salty. Toasted crispy not greasy. We got onion rings not fries. The cook did a great job. Sometimes food like this can be greasy and heavy. Our meal was not. The cook did a good job. The waitress was friendly, fast and efficient. Many restaurants are understaffed and overworked these days. I appreciate the people out there working hard!

First time ever going to friendly’s. Ever. Last time as well. The waitress was super nice. She made a mistake and told me “every drink has a free refill, except milkshakes” at the time I wasn’t sure as I was in a rush. So I asked her if the orange juice had a free refill, she said yes. So I went with orange juice. She brings out my appetizer and it was good, so I eagerly wait for the entre meal I ordered. This much older lady comes out with the meal which had a very small portion of mashed potatoes… like very very small. I thought it was because I added bacon. but no I got charged for the bacon too so there goes that.

Not going to sugarcoat it- the food is really bad. I’m almost impressed at some of the food that they managed to make taste bad. (Turkey club!!) No one in my family was able to finish their food because something about each dish was just inedible. And the whole place always smells like old mop water. But they are kid-friendly and everyone loves their ice cream. Whatever your expectations are for their food, just lower that bar all the way to the ground and try not to trip over it on your way to the ice cream freezers.
