I was in the area and I decided to try this location since the Simi valley one surprised me on how good it was. The fact there was no parking available and I had to park in the street said a lot! People would complain about that but that just told me it must be good since there’s so many people there! I went with the pastrami dip again and I was disappointed again it was delicious and if you want pastrami just go with the hat they are doing a great job!

$15 for a basic pastrami sandwich, and I mean BASIC! Pastrami mustard and pickles. Taste like any other pastrami sandwich nothing special, the pastrami taste warmed up vs cooked on that grill. The bread was soft and they only put like 2 pickles. And they will not call out your number which they should tell you, my food was waiting on the counter and no one said anything.

There are two sure things about The Hat, the pastrami and that you won’t leave hungry. The claim that it is “World Famous” is dubious. That it is some of the world’s best is undeniable. I don’t live close to one, but whenever I get within 20 minutes of one I take the time to go…and whether it’s in San Gabriel Valley or the one south of Irvine, it is always a treat and always something I bring home to family. The food is great.

I was visiting California and had never heard of The Hat. My friend asked if I liked pastrami, I said absolutely and he said we’re going to The Hat. The location I went to has a real nostalgic feel, the business has been around for 70 years, the food was reasonably priced and an excellent value. If you like pastrami, this is a restaurant you need to go to.

This place has become a go to spot everytime I come home to visit now. Their chili cheese pastrami fries are just to freaking good to pass up. The pastrami burger is also yummy but if you had to try just one item it’s the pastrami fries.
