My wife’s family is Honduran. We recently moved to Arkansas, and she was afraid she wouldn’t get any authentic Honduran food here. To our pleasant surprise, El Sur is only 12 minutes from our new home. We tried literally EVERYTHING on the menu, and it was INCREDIBLE

Such a local gem. Order the baleda, the one with everything on it was so filling I saved half for dinner! They also have a great looking cocktail menu, and the worker taking our order offered to make just about anything on it NA. Chips come with different types of salsas and they are so delicious and spicy! Love that they were able to open a brick and mortar, it’s good to see great food success stories in Little Rock!

It was alright. I was excited to try Honduras food, and even more excited when I saw they had three different plant proteins!! nopales, cauliflower chorizo and oyster mushroom asado. If you are vegan/vegetarian, I without a doubt would get the Sencilla Baleadas and add the cauliflower chorizo. Even the girl who took my order said that was an awesome choice. It was soooo delicious. Warm, full of beans, and the tortilla was even tasty and seemed homemade. Remove the cheese for vegan and I know without a doubt it would still be amazing. Next I tried the homemade corn tortilla taco with the nopales filling. This was just okay. Nopales is already a slimy plant but it can be done right. This version was cut into really thin strands and to me I didn’t pick up on much flavor wise, except a slight pickle note which I can’t explain and just too slimy. I’d try another plant protein or meat over the nopales. Lastly I got an Arepa which is what they call a cornmeal pancake stuffed with cheese and other fillings. It kind of reminded me of a small sope sandwich. I picked the oyster mushroom asado as the filling- I was determined to try all the veggie options! This one was okay- for some reason it had a very pickled taste I couldn’t get over which after tasting that in the nopales taco I’m wondering if that’s a common spice in Honduras cuisine. The atmosphere is really modern and eclectic. There’s a fun room in the back with tables and ping pong so fun for a date night. The bar is beautiful and well stocked. It’s more on the boujee side if you like a cheap, basic beer- they don’t have em’. All in all, I’d go back for the Sencilla Baleadas with the cauliflower but I’m okay without the others. They just weren’t for me. A thousand thanks for having veggie options!

Honduran food!! This is a great place! Owners and staff are very friendly and passionate about their menu. The menu has great options as you will see. Everything purchased exceed our expectations. Chips seem to be homemade daily, the salsa is LIGHTS OUT – a Smokey charred taste to it. The Con Todo is really really good. I’m Alamo a fan of the pupusas! We will be returning and telling our friends about this place. Great work El Sur!

First off the food here is some of the best I’ve had recently! The workers are so nice and considerate and the beer on tap is really good. I haven’t had a bad food there. The game room in the back is a great hangout spot and uniquely there own!

This is hands down one of the best places I have ever eaten while traveling. I have ciliac disease and it can be incredibly difficult to travel and eat out. This place made it easy. There were only a few things on the menu that I couldn’t eat and the staff were knowledgeable and able to steer me towards food I can eat and away from foods that may be a problem. The gluten free food was so good! I wish every city had a place as amazing and affordable as this. Did I mention it was affordable and amazing?

Yeah it’s good. Cool ping pong tables. Interesting & unusual to typical flavor profiles used in most Latin American/Islander style restaurants in this area.

Great food and fast service. I also liked that you can order the tacos individually which makes it quite easy to try various types.
