Our first visit to Estrela De Serra Portuguese BBQ in Colonia, NJ was truly rewarding. Serving delectable Portuguese barbecue, we enjoyed the combo of chicken and ribs with rice and French fries. While red beans come at an extra cost, they’re well worth it.

This place use to be the most friendly place ever and also they used to have good food. I used to go there at least twice a week. But recently I believed there is a new guy/owner not sure he is terrible his attitude nasty always rolling his eyes at customers for asking any questions. The woman who is upfront her attitude is very nasty and the food doesn’t taste the same anymore and they charge extra for hot sauce. I wish I could give it a zero star.

Ever since they closed and reopen the food taste bad and the chicken is way way smaller like the once u buy from shoprite that is the whole chicken same weight as a normal chicken breast really bad and it happend more than 3 times the first 2 times I said maybe its a mistake but its not and they so stingy with the hot sauce loved the old owners that’s for sure won’t go there again ill drive to Newark elm st even tho I live in Woodbridge

Just not the same since Danny left.. used to love this place.. ordered a rib and chicken combo and they skimped out on everything except the rice .. they didn’t not give me a half order of chicken and barely any fries and the ribs were nasty.. just loaded the tray with rice. Also ordered a salad and they didn’t even put any sort of dressing…Won’t be going here anymore!

DANNY IS THE MAN! AND THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! I got my half chicken with rice and fries and yes it was finger lickin good. They have nice big portions and the seasoning is just right. Thank you for the great meal will be back soon.

Perfect option for Keto diet. I ordered the 1/2 chicken, 1/2 ribs platter. Taste was great and I didn’t have to worry about the sauce adding extra carbs. I also ordered the garlic shrimp but I wasn’t a huge fan of that dish. Was a bit too salty for my taste. Long wait time, I guess no one wanted to cook this Sunday lol.

Ordered on Saturday night around dinner we were told 20 minutes which wasn’t bad.Never ordered from here before and had no idea how big the portions were! We said it was for 4 people so he said the 2 chickens was enough as it comes with rice and fries. We also wanted ribs he told us that’s enough for 7-8 people. The ribs and chicken were both delicious! And their rice is sooo good. The ribs are dry but give sauce on the side. There’s only one sauce though and it’s hot. Definitely will be back!
