Why add boiling hot food in flimsy plastic container, at these temperatures the plastic leeches into the food! Noticed most Indian restaurants do this. There are better ways. The food was actually good. will be happy to upgrade to 5 stars once this is fixed

Best selection of Indian food in Salinas! There’s a bit of a language barrier but the services is welcoming. The curry dishes I got were savory and delicious. The restaurant style is very casual. Lots of mobile orders being processed while we were there. Very authentic food. Modest wine and beer selection. Family style food. Vegetarian selections. Coming back soon to try other selections.

This restaurant has a terrible owner. I respectfully asked him why was I being charged $4 instead of $3.50 for each naan when his menu card has it marked at $3.50 for each butter naan and he started saying that he can’t change anything as per system. I asked him why his menu card is priced lower (and all of them have a lower price)? I asked him if he is the owner of the restaurant and when is he planning to update the menu cards? He instantly started shouting and misbehaving and saying “don’t pay anything, just go”. The yelling started increasing the moment I wanted to calm him down so that we could have a meaningful conversation but quite honestly I have self respect that only allowed me to have a few more attempts and finally, I gave up on him seeing it go nowhere when he yelled at me to “get out”. I was with my father, mother, wife and child. All of us were aghast at this behavior from restaurant owner. I have been to many restaurants before, always pay handsome gratuities, give good reviews if I like it and many of them are good friends now because we treat each other with respect. Never in any country ever have I seen such a terrible restaurant management. If you are visiting this place, remember to match the menu card with your check. If you find any discrepancies do not ask any question or else stay prepared for the owner of the restaurant who would instantly start yelling and insulting you for asking legitimate questions. To the owner: Learn to understand first what someone is saying, see how you can solve the problem rather than blowing up the conversations to the point where no one wants to visit your restaurant. It takes lot to time to earn goodwill, very little to loose it by being rude and disrespectful. Get well soon!

Please save your money and get food somewhere else. We ordered two biryani chicken and mutton. Both were beyond pathetic. The briyani was red in color, as if they mixed chilli powder in rice. Was spicy beyond tolerance. Being south Indias, we can eat spicy food, but this was literally chilli powder mixed with rice. And the fish Tikka was charred. Wasted our money! Never recommending this place!! Don’t get fooled seeing their menu!

I am so grateful it is salted right. It is worth the 50 mile drive. The Nan bread was so delicious. We got the family pack. This way it reminds us of the Indian buffets we used to go to. what is different about Avatar is there samosas. I have tried East African samosas and Indian samosas at many places. They put a special touch on theirs and the presentation is really good that I prefer Avatar Style samosas their chicken. The cooking a wait staff are very busy. It seems like they make their food fresh. That’s a blessing. How the food is presented and how it taste, it seems that the staff really knows what they’re doing and care about serving quality food. I’ve been here more than a couple of times and I have been satisfied. This is my favorite restaurant and Central Coast. It wasn’t hard for them to become my favorite because other restaurants and Salinas is you know like Salinas.
