Very casual, small town Americana style cafe. Hours of operation are firmly adhered to. Service is friendly and quick. Food was average for breakfast. I’ll have to go back to try their lunch offerings.

Awesome small town restaurant! It seems to be well used by the locals on an early Saturday morning. This is always a good sign – where do the locals go to eat? Stop in for a great meal morning until early afternoon. Food was delicious and service very good.

It’s a nice little place, and I’m not going to go out of my way to bash a locally-owned business. They make their hot cocoa with water so I didn’t order any. I had two large pan cakes which were decent. Hard to mess up pancakes. The staff was decent, but some of the other customers started staring at me, so I left. I am quite black in a very white place, just visiting. If you don’t mind the looks from the same other customers, it’s a nice place to get breakfast.

It was alright. Nothing was particularly exceptional, but as diner food should do, it definitely filled you up. All the food appeared to be provided by a food supply company such as Sysco (pancake mix, frozen country fried steak, etc) and did not appear to be made from scratch (the exception may be the gravy). The gravy on the country fried steak was a bit unusual, and I’m not sure if it is a local thing or just something particular to Cindy’s. There was a lot of sage used in the gravy, so much that it added a green tint to the gravy. While I am a huge fan of sage (especially with breakfast), this went beyond my personal limits for it as a seasoning. I could definitely see how some would find this appealing, though, so I just wanted to note it for reference and not as a negative remark. Would definitely stop back in for another meal.

My husband and I just had breakfast at Cindy’s. I am giving zero stars because the food was nasty. The hash browns were like they were thrown in the pan and put on the plate. They were completely uncooked. It’s not that hard to cook hash browns!!!

Fast friendly service. The hand written posterboard menus are on the wall. Amount of food for the price is a decent value! I had the breakfast special: 2 French toast, 2 eggs and 2 bacon. My wife had pancakes with her eggs and bacon.

Thank you for a wonderful and delicious lunch today. We really enjoyed the company and food. We can’t wait to come back and try your fish and shrimp dinner. The cobbler was so good ❤️

I should have read reviews. After asking for a menu and the young server pointed to the hand written menu on the wall, we should have left. They had to how are part of the poster board so we could read the menu. The prices seemed fair until the food arrived. I didn’t even realize they made for that was this poor in quality, and it was barely warmed up. Definitely the worst breakfast experience I have had in a long time.

Absolutely TERRIBLE food. Do not come to this restaurant unless you like eating overpriced garbage. Cindy does an absolutely horrible job of cooking, and I’m convinced that most young children could do better. This is not an overly critical review; it’s the truth. The only reason I can think of as to why there are any positive reviews is that the people of Belle Plaine (I am a resident as of last June) who frequent Cindy’s Kitchen have never gotten out of this small town to try decent food. The only positive thing about this place is the two high school boys waiting tables did a pretty good job at that. The pancakes first came out white, raw and full of batter. After sending them back, they came out almost white again, but somehow not as raw. They smelled and tasted of flour and not much else. The hash browns were stale, soggy and hard at the same time. The eggs were bland and even the hot sauce packets were expired and tasted like a cupboard. My four and two year olds didn’t even like the food, and that’s saying something. I’m not sure how Cindy has stayed in business this long other than for the reason I mentioned above. The worse part about the whole experience was how expensive everything was. Paying $41 for 3 horrible meals was very hard to stomach. I sincerely hope this place goes out of business, because it is a nice location and something decent deserves to be there. Likely Cindy has heirs that will take the place over though, so this is wishful thinking. If you’re thinking you could open a restaurant that’s better, you’re probably right. It wouldn’t take much.
