Okay, I’m not from Glenview and So Gong Dong had a 50 min. Wait, so we tried this place. We are really glad we did! This restaurant does not serve bulgolgi, but specializes in kalbi and beef brisket, pork and tongue. The grills are ventilated down through the grill which made cooking much cleaner. Also, they have a preferred way of doing things, like serving your rice and soup after you finish eating your meats. You should feel comfortable asking for your rice with your meat if you prefer to eat it right away. Also do not be shy to ask for soy sauce, beverages (besides water or tea). This seems to be a cultural difference in service and not rudeness. The wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodated our every request, especially because we do not speak Korean. We ordered the jap chae, mandu and brisket. All scored high on our taste meter. The Japchae had a slightly more smoked flavor and less sweet. We all really enjoyed it! The brisket came unmarinated, which actually paired well with the lettuce and sides better than we expected. The sides were good, especially the complimentary vegetable pancake and cinnamon tea for dessert. Definitely don’t base your decision to go here on older reviews. We think this restaurant is doing a fantastic job!

very nice and beautiful Korean restaurant. Grill on every table but absolutely no smoke or smell~ that is just awesome! Good for business gathering.

Delicious food and excellent service. The meat was super high quality as was the presentation. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

It seems that the dinner service is not good here. I think the food is decent at least, but that depends on what you get and when though. The buffet is surely limiting, but when we got the BBQ supplement with the buffet, things got better. The service is reasonable as long as you come for this lunch and not dinner. On the brightest side of things, this is probably about as good as Korean food can get in Glenview. Though still not actually good, this is totally acceptable (By all means, I rather would take what is OK over what is bad).

I went here for my first Korean BBQ experience, and it was a good one. For me, the food tasted 3/5, but the service we got was over 5/5. My friends and I got yelled at by the manager a couple times since we didn’t know what we were doing, so a waiter came to our table and cooked our food for us, and made our experience great. He gave us free food, just because he said we needed to try it to complete our Korean BBQ experience.

They don’t speak English. The atmosphere is only for Koreans. They lack menu items. For example, I ordered a Coke, they only had diet. There was stuff floating in the water. I asked for a refill and it was coming from the pitcher. The dishes were filthy. Pieces of food were stuck on there. Food and price was average. That’s why they’re getting 2 stars. Service was typical to a Korean restaurant. Had I not spoke Korean, I wouldn’t have been able to eat there.

Food is ok but the service is quite horrible. I think it’s one particular person who ruins the experience. She’s an older Korean lady who badgers you when you take too much of something from the buffet (it’s a buffet. I took a bowl for 4 people to share. Mind you, it was a small bowl as well.) We also waited forever for our meats to come out and we got 1 or 2 strips of meat at a time (for 4 people to share!!!). After we got a different server, things got way better. My friend who went with me swore this place off. I would try again to see if they improved at all but I would definitely hope I don’t get that same lady.

The marinade on the kalbi was pretty good, and that’s important, as well as the pork for the samgyupsal being pretty good. However, their panchan really needs some work! We were there on a Satruday night at about 5:30pm, and the service was almost mediocre. They were pleasant enough, but hardly ever around. It was like they understaffed on a Saturday night, with only six tables to care for in a restaurant that could probably hold hundreds! We probably won’t be going back.

Galbi flavor was nice but it was way too tough and rubbery. The banchan was very lackluster. San Soo Gab San still has the best ban chan in the area. The naeng myun was good, in a different way. The noodles were thin and had a nice chew. The soup had a distinct peppercorn aroma.
