tiny lunch shop with greasy smell. fridge, counter and snack shelf with grab n go vietnamese meals. boba is horrible but thats kind of expected. wide banh mi selection! girl was nice.

So I’m always on the hunt for a Vietnamese deli close by. Coming from Washington state and being able to enjoy the international district in Seattle I was very disappointed to see how very little options I had out in San Diego. This place popped up on my Yelp and I had to give it a try! When I saw it it was a Monday so I was pretty bummed but they were closed.

So good. Best bahn mi sandwiches! I really like this small mom and pop shop. The woman at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. It was also beautiful to see at least three regular customers, those known by name, walk in and have their orders made. I ordered two Special Combination, one BBQ pork sandwich, and a pork bun that was on the counter. The sandwiches were loaded well with meat and fresh crisp veggies, and the bread was freshly toasted, crunchy, and warm. So delicious. The pork bun was a little bland, but satisfying. I also ordered an avocado smoothies which was super creamy and not too sweet. This shop offers amazing quality and value. The pictures show the special combination sandwich and the pork bun.

The food is okay. The reason I’m giving them 1 star is because I hear their workers argue and the owner actually pays their employees $11.00/hr. They also have to work 50 hours a week with no overtime pay. Unbelievable!

Just got a pork Bahn mi sandwich and although it was edible it was basically mid-grade… bread seemed a bit old and the pork looked like sliced spam I’ve definitely had better from several establishments within a 1 mile radius from this place.

Today we just followed whatever other people in front of us were ordering; bbq pork bahn mi. Its pretty good. We wish my vietnamese iced coffee had a little bit of milk its almost just like thick black coffee. But otherwise we came for the sandwich, and got a good one.

Sandwiches are nice and fresh ..don’t order the boba drinks..tasted powdery and boba was hard.. I really don’t like the extra fee if you use your credit card .. would rather have the fee added to the price of food already instead of additional fee

We’ve been getting banh mi sandwiches from Bale for over 10 years. The BBQ pork sandwich is our regular go to, but we have tried many of their different sandwiches including their egg, veggie and pate ones and they were all delicious. This is our favorite banh mi shop. Plus we get their sesame balls when they have them.
