We were on vacation heading north and just off the airplane. We saw the place and debated stopping. It was a little shady looking but, wow. wow. wow. Easily, with no debate, the best pizza ever. We talked about it the rest of the trip. The place is local, nothing fancy, but the service was super friendly, we got some history on the pizza and had a great meal. We went back the night before we flew out, but they are closed on Mondays. So disappointed. This will always be a stop on future trips through to the north country!

Hidden local gem that blows the competition out of the water! From specialty “twisted” pizzas like a Baked Spaghetti pizza on hand tossed dough to the only true “Chicago Deep Dish” i know of in town… They have it covered. They also sell sandwiches and hot dogs, pastas, vegetarian Lasagna & some really great sounding desserts. The owner is friendly and will do his best to accommodate your requests for special orders. It shares a building with the riverboat queen casino, so fun for adults can also be had while the kids eat amazing pizza. Loved it.

A co-worker and I ordered the lasagna which a lunch special at a decent price. However…. while eating the lasagna I kept looking for some sort of meat. When I called to ask if there was meat in the lasagna, he said no, you have to ask for it… So then I said why didn’t you ask me if I wanted to ADD meat or sausage when I ordered it? He says well everything is “customized” – but again… how would a caller know that?? It would make good sense to up-sell when taking an order… like give some options… Do you want to add this or that ? Very disappointed actually… I have NEVER in my life ordered lasagna that didn’t HAVE meat on it unless it said vegetarian on the menu. The person I spoke with didn’t appear receptive to my suggestion to tell the caller you have to ADD meat!! My co-worker was shocked too…. on the bright side she liked it and all the sauce it came with.

This was the first time I’ve ate at the pizzeria in a long time. I wouldn’t say you need to eat at the store, but my calzone was amazing. The way they brushed and seasoned the dough was perfect!

Champos is amazing! They use local kamut flour and great ingredients. We go there almost weekly. The owner is friendly and always remembers us. Definitely worth trying!

Pizza wasn’t great, when I got there to pick up pizza I had to wait because they dropped one of them on the floor and had to redo it. When I went to pay they had to swipe my card a million times bcs the card reader wouldn’t work. Won’t be going back.
