Tacos El Flako isn’t a restaurant. It’s a small frutería located in a modest neighborhood. It reminded me of my Youth when I would visit my grandmother in Mexico. I did enjoy the food and especially the mangonada.

The store is not physically appealing but the torta de asada had good flavor, I’d skip the lengua. The miss here is seeing the old produce on its shelves and cooking spatula scraped on several surfaces besides just the griddle.

The carnitas taco was good, flavorful but a little dry. The esquite was good at first but the mayo and cheese melted really quickly and turned it to corn soup, also didn’t come with cilantro. The prices are very fair. Wait time was a little longer than expected but I perused to produce while I waited.

This is authentic Mexican food. The owners don’t speak English so brush up on your Spanish. The burrito, quesadilla, and mangonada were delicious. There is no outdoor signage and no seating. It’s difficult to find, but it’s good if you enjoy trying mom and pop restaurants like I do.
