Monroe has a new favorite Cajun restaurant for me! This place is as close as you will find to eating in Lafayette to Lake Charles. This crawfish ettoufe is the real deal!! I can’t wait to go back and try something else.

First time here for lunch, and while we did have 9 people, and there were several large tables of equal or larger size. That said, they seated us right away and took our drink and app order. All came out relatively quickly and tasted good. Crawfish boule was spot on as well as the onion tangles. Fried boudin balls were OK, little bland, IMO.

My second time here. The food quality is good, but portion size is not. The prices are high for what you get for some entrees. The picture I have posted is a 20-dollar ½ and ½ fish and shrimp. The other picture is their appetizer crawfish boulettes. Again, the quality is good, but the portion size is below average. Additionally, I am glad to see they are one of the few restaurants around the area that have posted they charge a credit card usage fee. I think it was 3.5% on top of your local tax. Just as a reminder to those reading this, if a restaurant does not post this outside to the extent, it is very clear you are being charged and how much, you are not responsible for the charge per the law, and you should report them to the Better Business Bureau. Again, I enjoyed the food here, but I would have to opt for their specials during the week. Thank you for reading my post.

We went in before they received their liquor license, so take note if you’re looking for that.

Wish I would have read the reviews… Appetizers are very small for the price. Food was fine…fried seafood. They charge you a little extra for using a card…but did not tell us ahead of time so our receipts didn’t match. I was excited to try this place but probably won’t come back… One appetizer and a bottle of Modelo was over $20.

We tried Fontenot’s Monroe tonight for the first time. And we were the last table sat of the night before they closed, apologies on that one. But regardless the service was top knotch, and the food was impeccable! I got the Cajun Dream, he got the fried oyster plate with onion rings and we shared an appetizer of the crab cakes. Everything was absolutely delicious and well seasoned. Honestly reminded me of some of the best seafood places in New Orleans and Lafayette. Hands down, a spectacular experience and I hope they continue to do great things in Monroe.

The food was a mixed bag – the crab cakes were frozen food service product so OK at best, the chicken sandwich was really good, and the onion rings were really good. The employees are new so the service is good but still a work in progress. The atmosphere is also still developing, but seems promising. Much better service and atmosphere than the Columbia location.

The food was very good. The service was as poor an experience as I have ever had. We had to send one plate back because the food was cold. While this was occurring, the waitress forgot to bring the salad prior to, or with it. Twenty-five minutes later, we had to ask the waitress where the meal we had to ask the waitress when the meal would be brought out. She apologizes, goes to the kitchen, and returns to tell us that the kitchen threw the plate in the trash and they would have to make a new one. We then remind her for the second time that the salad still has not come out. In the mean time, we had to stop our waitress and ask to have our drinks to be refilled. At the end, approximately $5 was deducted from our ticket. This is an insulting response. I would have been happier with a table visit from management and an apology. As it was, we got crickets. Like I said, the food was great but the rest was disappointing.

Food has zero flavor. We got the fried shrimp plate and the catfish strip plate last night. Neither meal had any flavor or spices on any food item. Not even salt or pepper. Not sure how this is Cajun. Reminds me more of bland hospital food. Maybe the cook was new and from the Midwest but there is nothing Cajun about this food.

Our waitor was very attentive and got our drinks order and food to us in a timely manner. My husband got the Cajun nachos and I got the catfish platter with onion rings and huspuppies. The catfish is so delicious and it melts in your mouth like butter so good.
