So the other Mexican restaurant was super crowded so I went to Gaby’s. I ordered the Picante de Pollo and a cucumber salad. And WOW was that food great! It was a rather long wait but everything is made fresh from scratch. They could have done a better job packing my food to go but hey, that’s nit-picking. I would recommend Gaby’s. Oh, and i was told they have killer margaritas.

Once you enter the restaurant it feels like home. Everyone was sweet and the food very delicious. I ordered enchiladas with grilled chicken. The chicken was flavorful and tender and the sauce was yummy. It was different from the normal red or green enchiladas that most restaurants offer. I cant wait to go back.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The avocado salad was refreshingly different! The salsa was fresh and flavorful. All 4 of the Bolivian dishes ordered by my family were unique and delicious! We sampled plates with beef, pork, and chicken and we were pleased with every single preparation. We will definitely be making this place a regular restaurant to visit!

I went here for lunch on a random Wednesday. I was craving something new, and that can be hard to find on this mountain. I went into the festively decorated building, and was transported to another world. The nice lady who helped me right when I walked in was possibly the original Gaby herself. I asked her what’s good? and she replied to try the spicy short ribs. So I did. It was delicious. It also came with a pasta side instead of rice, which I found interesting in a good way. overall it was almost like a food fusion effect, without it being so contrived. 10/10 would recommend. This is obviously a family owned restaurant, and they went above and beyond to give great service.

After biking in the morning we wanted to eat some vegetarian food in the area, and I was craving for some Mexican. This Bolivian place has a Mexican menu with a “twist”, and that twist turned out to be very tasty. We got the veggie plate, cheese enchiladas, and the beet salad. They were all delicious. Rice and beans are not your typical Mexican rice and beans (home made beans are lard-free). Veggies were seasoned perfectly. Onions in the beet salad were pickled and were not too strong. We scrapped every bit of food from all 3 plates. If you are in Big Bear, you should give this place a try.

Service was slow at first but when they arrived they were good. Cook even came out to see how everyone’s food was. Lomo Montado was interesting but above average. A twist on lomo saltado puruvian. Nachos were huge

I love this place. Sometimes you’ll need to be patient as it can get crowded and everything is fresh and made with love. When it’s not crowded it is like a family kitchen run by a loving but motivated mother. Try anything on the menu and you will be satisfied. They put together a good michelada too. Gracias Gaby.

Amazing amazing amazing! This is not your typical Mexican spot. It is Bolivian and we were blown away by the quality and flavors. Get the braised short ribs Asado En Olla, and avocado salad! The margaritas here are huge too. Highly recommend.

My husband and I made a stop at Gaby’s as first time in big bear. If you want comfort food and the taste of something different that has that home cook feel, you will find it here. Not only is the staff friendly and welcoming. You will have a great dining experience. We tried dishes from their Bolivian menu, pollo a la olla and the short rib stew, well served plates with side of rice and red quinoa and peanut pasta salad with crumble fresh cheese. A must try!
