Dee-licious bao buns. Fresh and bright ingredients. I also ordered a rice bowl with lemongrass stir-fried tofu. I enjoyed both dishes, but especially the bao buns. I may be biased because I just love steamed rice buns. Service was also super friendly which I appreciate greatly! I will definitely be coming back here.

Okay, after having eaten in the restaurant and then having takeout, I’m ready to say this is a solid 4+ Vietnamese joint (for my non-Vietnamese self). Each dish we’ve had during our visits, from their appetizer spring rolls and dumplings, to the pork vermicelli, to the tofu Pad Thai for my veggie eating daughter, to their house specials (the tumeric chicken is packed with flavor), to the pork lemongrass bahn mi I had tonight, are rock solid. What put it over the top for me? The not-so-simple baguette. It was the epitome of the French/Vietnamese bread you would want to make a bahn mi sandwich exceptional. So if they’re paying attention to that detail, they’re trying to do their best. I’m coming back, guaranteed.

I try to get all of my friends to try to the bao buns here. They’re so good, and all the rest of the food I’ve had here is just as good. Has veggie friendly options as well. The servers have always been friendly too!

Het Say is a great humble Vietnamese restaurant for Asian comfort food. It’s quiet, small and a calm place for an easy dinner out. With tasty menu items, you can’t go wrong with their specialties.

Went to Het Say Vietnamese Kitchen today. It was really good. Best Pho we’ve had so far in Austin, especially at $8.50 per bowl. We also tried pork bao buns which were really good too. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu. Service was friendly and good too.

After being away from authentic Vietnamese food for over a year, I was so excited to be making a trip back to Austin, which is home to dozens of Vietnamese restaurants! As soon as my plane landed, I searched for “Vietnamese food near me” and looked for the most highly rated restaurants I could find near the airport. Het Say Vietnamese Kitchen stood out, so I jumped in my rental car and drove there immediately. I was politely greeted when I entered and told to sit wherever I’d like. I chose the Pho Het Say (Dac Biet), which is the fully loaded Pho bowl, and an order of shrimp spring rolls. The food arrived very quickly, and in moments I was in gustatory heaven. The Pho broth was very savory and well-made, the amount of noodles generous, and the various meat selections were also plentiful. The shrimp spring rolls were freshly made, and I ate them with heaping amounts of sambal oelek (chili paste) from the bottle. Het Say Vietnamese Kitchen delivered on the goods; this is a fantastic example of Vietnamese food in the Austin area, and is now in my top 5 for Vietnamese Restaurants in Austin.

Pho was good, calamari was not bad. Came back again and got the short ribs and beef stew which were both very good.
