Went here as part of a bachelorette celebration for my friend. She is a big fan of mezcal and tequila and this place blew us away!

Delicious Mexican cuisine prepared with originality and finesse. The guacamole was light and delicate with nice citrus accents. The trio of moles was a fun dish, with three very different preparations of mole served on a chewy masa cake stuffed with potato. This dish is great for sharing. The tacos were flavorful with herbs and spices that complemented the meat in the taco. Good margaritas and friendly, outgoing service.

Love the vibe of this spot! Popped in for a quick cocktail and bite while hanging out in Old Town, and this is a welcome break from the cheugy, old skool fake-Mexican tourist traps. Encyclopedic mezcal and tequila selection, creative and thoughtfully-composed cocktails, fine service, and a coherent menu.

This place was a waste. Nobody came to offer us a menu or service until 10 minutes later. Chips and salsa were a joke literally got tomato paste. Service was slow for it not being busy. hostess asked to take our high chair for someone else when we haven’t even ordered. We only received a one page menu with limited options for food and drinks.

I don’t understand the reviews. They tag on a 20% tip and service is terrible no wonder because they know they are getting a tip no matter what. Slow service, not friendly, they messed up our order. It was dead and still server with the neck tattoo couldn’t bother to come help us or check in. Our drinks hit the bottom a few times and he wouldn’t check in we finally decided to leave after we chased him to get our check. Drinks were the only thing that was good!

Loved this place. We got the Shrimp tacos, corn croquetas and empanadas Pescadora, all so delicious. Great friendly service and fun vibes too.

It is with a heavy heart I write this review as every single time I’ve been to Tahona was a great experience – starting with a mezcal tasting session and dozens of dinners ever since. Our last time however – even though their food is DIVINE and the atmosphere is one of a kind – our server happened to be the least enthusiastic person I’ve ever seen working in hospitality. He had this resting grump face going, walked away from the table in the middle of our order (no, we’re never difficult patrons) and flat out ignored the fact our drinks had been empty for over 20 minutes on a chill evening.

A higher-end experience than some of the other Mexican restaurants in Old Town, so don’t expect the long menus and prices you see at other spots.

Originally we stopped by to get drinks at the Oculto, but they were fully booked – fine. The first hostess didn’t even offer their own Tahona bar.

Went for a Friday night dinner date night with my wife last night and it was tremendous. We arrived at 5:30 and sat at the bar because we didn’t have a reservation. It was somewhat full when arrived and then got packed at 6. The vibe is very warm and inviting. Even in old town you can feel the authenticity oozing out at Tahona. The bartender correctly encouraged me to get the mezcal flight to taste 3 different regions for mezcal to determine which cocktail I should get first. The carnitas bao bun, mole sampler and tacos can’t be missed. And the tacos pictured were so good it required two photos. Shrimp (camarone), carnitas, and quesabira (beef barbacoa) were spectacular.
