I’m glad to support locally owned restaurants. Lionel Jay’s is a soul food restaurant with a rotating menu, changing out entrees and sides daily. I came on a Tuesday to get the beef tips and rice with corn and mashed potatoes. The restaurant is clean, quiet, and the portions were generous. The food was lightly seasoned which is good for people who want to season to taste. The owner himself took our order and was of course very professional. I will be back on a Thursday to hit up the meatloaf/Mac and cheese/baked beans!

We ordered take out, smothered pork chops and ribs plates. The pork chops were tough but the ribs were good. The rice did not seem to have butter or salt, the potato salad was bland, the corn and lima beans had no seasoning. The baked beans were good though. The peach cobbler was meh. In a word, disappointing. We will not be back.
