Found this place using Google maps while in the bay area. I’ve always liked 50s style diners.

I recently visited Mel’s Drive-In in SF and tried their burger with fries. While it satisfied my burger craving, nothing stood out as exceptional. The burger tasted decent, but not memorable, and the fries were average. The service was efficient and friendly! The atmosphere had a classic diner vibe but felt somewhat dated. If you want a quick and decent burger, Mel’s is worth a visit, but for a more memorable experience, explore other options in SF.

Very kind and efficient customer service. I had the ribs grilled cheese sandwich, not that great but the fries and drinks were tasty.

This is a great diner! The food was reasonable for the area. $12-20/plate. There’s any kind of breakfast, lunch, dinner you could want. I had the chicken soup which was also good. I’m not sure about vegan or vegetarian options. Kids will love it. There’s parking beside the building, but I don’t know how much it is.

My craving for a good burger and some fries took me to this place, perfect American diner with a juke box as well….. the banana shake is something you just cannot miss.

Hands down this place is the BEST food in town. Definitely worth the shot if you’re in the area and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Staffs are really friendly and the food is just amazing. In my 3 days of stay I had visited this 3 times (twice for breakfast and once for dinner) and no matter what you order they know how to cook it right.

Cool drive-in, really enjoyed the atmosphere and look of the place. I didn’t realize it was associated with George Lucas until I saw the photos all over the wall. Oh and the biscuits and gravy were good too.

Had a great drop in dinner at Mel’s. Chicken pot pie and short rib. Both delicious and hot. We followed with the cheesecake which was also great.

Very american as you woudl expect considering the interior and the old fashioned jukeboxes, like straight out of a Grease movie ! The waitress was attentive, but very “robotic”, I guess she been working there for the last 20 years Food was average – big portions, as normally in americans diners. Definitely worth visiting to get the whole US- experience !
