Typically I’m not one to write reviews but the older woman with the bonnet on will be the only reason I come back to this establishment. Upon reading previous reviews I was skeptical about coming to this location but I’m glad I did. The woman with the bonnet (black and brown colored) was very helpful and made my experience worth the gamble. She gives off a motherly feel and ensured me the coleslaw would be the best I’ve ever had and she was right! It’s rare in this current climate to find good help and she seems like a keeper!

I order here often and they never disappoint. The food is always made to order, and while I wait I typically just sit and talk to the staff. The older lady that works there is funny and sweet. She knows me by first name basis and knows my order. They really treat their customers like family from what I can see!

Got cat fish nuggets that tasted and smelled fishy… couldn’t even finish them. But my fiance got the cat fish fillers and they were different, fresh and had great seasoning on that crust. That was good! Nuggets not so good.

I came here hoping to have the same quality experience I had with Sharks on Broadway. The exact opposite occurred. The perch fish and the chicken is fried too hard in what taste like old grease. I did not even try the jumbo shrimp because I wanted to get a refund. I talked with the manager and he offered a store credit. No thanks, I will just take it as a paid lesson. Getting customer money is more valuable than customer satisfaction at JJ Fish and chicken on calumet rd in Hammond. The two ladies at the front counter were fine to work with.
