We had a wonderful date night this evening at the Independent. We started with the cheese appetizer. Blue, brie and another hard white cheese with toasted walnuts an amazing truffle honey and fruit. It was light, had amazing complimenting flavors and the presentation was fantastic.

My overall experience was exceptional. The server was ready to give many kind recommendations to my indecisive father. The calamari appetizer was crispy and came with two bright, flavorful sauces. I ordered the Ahi entree, and it was cooked to perfection. The creamy coconut rice was lightly sweet and complimented the chili oil remarkably well. It was not spicy at all. I also ordered the Behind the Knees cocktail which was very well constructed. I look forward to dining here again one day!

For an out of this world experience, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better spot than The Independent in Placerville! From its stunning decor and beautifully lit patio on chilly nights, to food that is truly out of this world. Start off with their wedge salad or the calamari to kick off an amazing meal; then dive into Pork Chops cooked like nobody’s business paired perfectly with mouthwatering apple chutney. And if Wagyu steaks are more your thing, they have one so tender it’ll almost melt in your mouth (just make sure you order medium though as rare might be too intense!). The sides are impeccable! Truffle mac & cheese, turnip fries, or cheesy polenta, all will have you cleaning your plate and wanting more! Then finish things off right sweetly indulging in either crème brûlée or bread pudding worthy of Grandma’s kitchen. Trust me –you won’t regret taking some time at The Independent!

Delicious food and great service! So excited to have found delicious crispy calamari with amazing dipping sauces. My husband had the pesto fettuccini with grilled chicken, I had the burger with fries and then we finished with the creme brûlée. Everything was perfectly cooked and we will definitely be back!
