I didn’t get to eat there, because service was slow. It was a little crowded so the food must have been good. I love the old building and the history behind it. A pleasant surprise in a sleepy little town.

The fries were soggy and not cooked all the way and the chicken in the chicken quesadilla tasted like it sat in fat for a day or two. So far from dissatisfied I will never eat here again. I only went because everything else was closed. Don’t waste your money or time like I did.

Great little Dining Room/Cafe in Mountainair. Located inside the historic Shaffer Hotel. The inside of the cafe has an amazing painted ceiling and a lot of photography and paintings featuring New Mexico or New Mexican artists. There is a hotel adjacent and an art gallery as well. The rock fence built by Pop Shaffer is really cool to check after you’ve had your meal.

Have stopped in for tacos several times over the last year, and sometimes the tacos are delicious: perfectly seasoned, fresh toppings, and fresh shells. Other times the order is completely wrong or the tacos are a big miss, and everything tastes like really old, burnt cooking oil.
