This review is so easy: Etoile is simply one of the best restaurants in Houston, which means it’s also one of the best in the United States. This is “special occasion” food at its absolute best. At the same time, you’ll be lured to return between occasions because you won’t be able to forget the stellar dishes and excellent service. The permanent menu is more than enough reason to become a regular, but Etoile offers an ever-changing list of seasonal specials that keeps things exciting. You will find delicious interpretations of classics like coq au vin, risotto and vichyssoise alongside summery offerings like chilled tomato-basil soup and creative light seafood dishes. Excellent wine list, and as you see from the photos, beautiful desserts. Someone in the kitchen loves vegetables and makes sure they receive the same attentive prep as the meats, rather than just being an afterthought. Applause! Applause! Applause!

Came here on a first date. We had a reservation, when we got there, we were told that somehow the app had over booked and there were no tables available but we were more than welcome to sit at the bar. Not the expectation we had going into this type of restaurant. No other accommodation offered but we received a complementary drink. Outside of that, our bartender was awesome. She was very patient and attentive. The food was excellent. But for a restaurant of this scale, it seems really strange they would be having such problems with booking and not doing more to accommodate.

My favourite was the mushroom ravioli! One of the best I have eaten! The scallop risotto was pretty good..we also had the duck and fish everything was fresh & delicious. Good ambience! Waiters were friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend for a fancy dinner spot !

This is the best restaurant in Houston (ever). Exquisite food in a beautiful, comfortable room. Uniformly great service. On top of which, the wine list, which has always been good, has done nothing but get better over the years. I have been fine-dining in this town for fully 50 years and I declare this not only the best place to eat now, it is the best place ever to grace the Houston dining scene. A handful of places over the years deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Etoile (Rotisserie for Beef and Bird / Charlie’s 517), but none has ever topped it. Go!

Food was great. A little pricey for the flavors, but everything was still delicious and gorgeous. Service was wonderful, and it was nice and quiet inside. The Panna cotta was especially yummy.
