At our Hazlehurst, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The food was pretty meh, but the cashier we had was absolutely amazing. There are so few options in the little town and even less on a Sunday, so we stopped here. About $10-12 a person (2 kids 4 adults). Everyone had something. It was cooked pretty fresh, you could tell that much. But the brand itself is rather lack luster. The crew here was great though!

I wasn’t able to order anything. There were NO employees at all in the restaurant. No cashier, no cooks, not even a maintenance person. Don’t waste your time. As we were leaving we saw all the employees hanging out in the parking lot smoking in a car.

I came in wanting the fish fry special for 599 and wanted to substitute the french fries for coleslaw and I was told that I could not do that. Every other captain D’s I’ve been to has allowed me to do that so I left and didn’t order anything.

Maybe it was just my timing there. But the service was slow. It took about 30 minutes for me to receive my order. The spicy fish I ordered was not tasty and the cold slaw wasn’t fresh. Seems like the grease needed to be changed. The crew was nice, just wasn’t worth the time and money spent on this visit.
