If you’re looking for fresh, decadent seafood in NYC, this is the place for you! We started with the Calabrian Chili Margarita and it was hands down the BEST drink I have ever had. A new and refreshing flavor profile with just the right amount of spice. I cannot stress this enough–if you take anything from this review, it is to RUN, not walk, to Principe to try this cocktail! To start, we had the arugula salad with apricots and pecorino. It was tasty, but a pretty small serving and not worth the $21 price tag. For entrees, we tried the ndunderi with heirloom squash and truffle and the rock shrimp mafaldine with suga bianco. Both were delicious, but the rock shrimp mafaldine was the real stand out. To wrap, we had the raspberry coconut popsicles (dairy-free, if I’m not mistaken). They were DELICIOUS and the perfect light dessert to complement our meal. Our server was expeditious and friendly, and the manager, Kal, was an absolute gem. He welcomed us, checked in throughout the meal, and all with a warm smile and demeanor! I will definitely be back to Principe.

Disappointing experience. Staff didn’t really seem to know what was going on. We waited forever for our food while tables next to us who came much later got all of theirs faster. At least the decor was nice.

Love the decor and vibe here! Art deco chandeliers adorn a minimalist industrial concrete room accented with beautiful furniture. Food is great, we got all the raw bar items, caviar and burrata and an olive crusted fish.

While I originally wanted to give this place 4 stars, I wouldn’t actively recommend it to anyone so 3 felt more appropriate. The food was good – not $100 a person good though. The vibes were meh… think soho in all the worst ways. The service was FINE. Again, for 100 a person without tip I would expect better.

Hands down one of the chicest restaurants in nyc. Loved the raw bar. The bread which is similar to an English muffin is amazing. The pastas are tasty too. Staff was friendly and attentive. Perfect place for an elevated night out.

Excellent meal from top to bottom! Loved the sourdough english muffin, scallop crudo, rock shrimp mafaldine and the fior di latte ice cream w/ olive oil + black pepper. Very trendy place with a cool interior design.

Sadly, I was underwhelmed by my dinner at Principe. It may have just been an off nite for the restaurant because so many of my industry friends have raved about this new spot from the chef from NoMad and The Modern. I rarely do bad reviews (hospitality life is difficult enough) but I was so disappointed, I feel I must in this case. I came early, ate at the bar. I ordered the brussels sprouts salad with miso, apple, and pecorino (just OK) and the lobster risotto with morel mushrooms & black truffle ($75). The risotto came out tasting like a salty porridge. Two items of note, however, were fabulous. One not even on the menu: the bread that came with goat butter was outstanding and the ice cream dessert (Fior di Latte w/ Olio Verde & Black Pepper) was AMAZING. The staff, by and large, were terrific as well. The person who took my order (I don’t think he was a waiter, maybe a manager) was super welcoming. The restaurant, btw, looks great but that doesn’t make up for having to spend almost $200 for a meal (with one cocktail and one glass of wine), that was as lackluster as what I had last nite.
