I’m not sure why this place has been getting so many negative reviews lately! My family has been dining here since they first opened over 18 years ago! If you’re looking for a Mexican restaurant with great quality food, big portions, fast and attentive service, and reasonable prices, then this is the place for you. I would definitely consider this a hidden gem in the Lee’s Summit area!

We discovered El Sazon (formerly La Fuente) about a year ago and have been eating there about once a week ever since. The staff is quick to greet you and get you seated. Chips and salsa are brought promptly to the table and are so good! There is a huge variety on the menu and there are some great new dishes they’ve added this past year! We’ve never had any issue with any of our meals as they are always brought piping hot to the table. Quite a few have discovered this local gem as they are often busy. They also have seating that can easily accommodate groups of 10-12 guests together. It’s the only place we go now for Mexican food!

Me, and a friend of mine went to enjoy food at this restaurant. However, after being seated, it took our waitress a while to even come over to our table to the point to where the hostess had to come over and ask us if we had received service yet- when we said we hadn’t, it still took another 20 to 30 minutes for the waitress to even come over for a simple drink order. She was predominantly catering to our fair skin friends that were within the establishment. I’m assuming she thought our brown shade wouldn’t pay. None the less be mindful if you’re a person of color seeking a nice dining experience because you won’t receive it here.

Our first time here. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately seated. The waiter and the other employees were all very friendly and accommodating. Our food came right away and was very delicious which made it an overall great experience. My husband left a big tip! We are definitely coming back!

I live on the US/Mexico border in Texas where authentic Mexican food is plentiful. What a delightful surprise to see such authenticity here. Very reasonable prices. Excellent lunch specials. Varied selection. The opener chips and salsa were both quite good. The chips were light and airy. The salsa was fresh and delicious.

If I lived anywhere near this restaurant I would be a regular customer. My taco salad fajita was perfect, so perfect I woofed it down like a little piggy. All I had left to photograph was the empty shell. Sorry folks. The chips & salsa almost brought tears to my eyes. Pureed salsa is my absolute favorite, as opposed to chunky salsa. I left the restaurant completely satisfied. This type of food generally gives me heartburn so I set out the tums and waited for the discomfort to set in. Much to my surprise, I did not have any heartburn. That was the clincher for giving this restaurant 5 stars.
