We chose to dine here this afternoon due to convenience and reviews were good. First time. From the outside we did not expect much, the inside is simple yet clean and inviting. Staff was very friendly. Ava took great care of us. The menu was more sophisticated than I expected, more gourmet than I am used to while passing through a small town in Maine. We kept the meal simple and was not disappointed. Burgers were cooked exactly as ordered and were delicious. Fries were plentiful and very good.

This place is awesome, somewhat confusing though. The atmosphere and decor is relaxed, country & rustic with a painting of a cow on wood slats, reclaimed wood & metal art and no dress code. Yet the menu has a mix of elevated cuisine and simple classics like balsamic duck and country fried steak. Open all day most days of the week too??

A wonderful dining experience on our way to New Hampshire from Moosehead lake. Amazing vegetarian and vegan options. Cozy place in a small town with the friendliest staff I have ever interacted with.

Love this place! Amazing people and all kinds of imaginative specials. You no longer have to drive to the city for fantasticly fresh cuisine. Save room for dessert

I am a gluten-free vegetarian, my husband is a die-hard carnivore! We make it work at home, but Salt & Pepper and Sugar too is the one and only restaurant that could possibly be the favorite place for us both to eat. Every meal either of us has had there has been outstanding – literally in a class by itself.

The most friendly staff I have ever encountered. I like to try different places when I come to Maine to open the cabin but this is one I will definitely be coming back to. Not only was the waitstaff excellent , the owner came out of the kitchen to great everyone in the restaurant. And if that wasn’t enough the food was fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about this place, just go!

Very nice place. The food is excellent and everything is made in-house. The portions are plentiful so you can easily take some home. The staff was helpful and friendly. The chef-owner often came out to visit with the customers to make sure every thing was to their satisfaction. The bread pudding was good but could have used some raisins ( my preference). The only detractor was that none of the staff was wearing a mask so keep that in mind.

I’ve been here twice now for dine in and have ordered once for take out. The staff is welcoming and provides great service. I’ve had the meatloaf, burger with blue cheese and Philly. I love the food here. It is delicious! The owner even stopped to ask how are meal was on one occasion when she was there. Great quaint restaurant. My favorite restaurant in Maine because I know the food is good and won’t be disappointed spending my money here.

Lovely place! Had the cream brûlée French toast for brunch and it was the best French toast I’ve ever had. The flavor and texture was amazing. The Amanda’s amazing omelette was filled with a delicious mousse.
