Having lived in Austin for over 30 years, I figured it was time to try Granny’s for some really good tacos and check out what the hype was all about. We ordered the Rico, Alambre, Abuela & Shrimp tacos. For the amount of food in each taco, they were super overpriced ($5.25-$5.75) per taco. The presentation of the tacos was severely lacking…hardly picture worthy!! Most taco trucks serve up their tacos with amazing sauces…at Granny’s even the sauces were mediocre and didn’t really add any flavor to the already mushy tacos. The rice in the Rico was under cooked and there were only 3 shrimp in the shrimp taco. The avocado in one of the tacos was mushy & smashed. There are too many other places in Austin to enjoy better tacos….will never be back!

The food and staff make the outdoor dining and prices well worth it! Always smiling and happy to take your order the staff at granny’s is second to nobody! It may look a little pricy at first but just trust the process and you won’t regret! Great portion size, amazing ingredients, and you will definitely get your money’s worth!

A large tent covers picnic tables on a small lot with limited parking. Granny’s tacos are prepared in a small food truck at the back right of the lot and they are the best you’ll find anywhere. Open for breakfast, lunch or dinner to build your own taco and more. Chicken mole was awesome, flavorful and tender.

Pro tip: order your tacos on their corn tortillas, which are handmade fresh for you. Easily the best taco truck in Austin. Only downside is that they close at 3:00
