We had four meals and we all enjoyed them. Big portions and reasonable prices. Large menu. Gnocchi Juliana was great, eggplant Parm was good with lots of sauce, char-broiled chicken was very tasty with lots of garlic, and tortellini Alfredo. Salad was good also. Only complaint is that we requested a third basket of bread and were told they ran out of bread!?! Then the people that sat down next to us were given a basket of bread. If there is a limit of two, just tell us!

Stopped in on a Monday night. Seating was available with no wait. Waitress was attentive, polite, and friendly. Calamari appetizer was tasty! Order the Gnocchi and Chicken Parm dishes and came out in 10-15 minutes. Food was delicious. Also order 2 glasses of red wine and 2 beers. Wine was chilled and beers were cold. Overall, this place is solid. Check it out!

Horrendous service, waiting for someone to take my order for 30min (not only me, the 3 tables near me were on the same page) After swinging my arms for the third time someone came (couple employees saw us perfectly, they didn’t care) I didn’t leave because it was 8pm already, and it’d be hard to get a table on other restaurants near that location. So, the only positive experience was the sunset, and the service when David took care of us after 45min waiting. Also, the view to the back of the patio, no words, just check on the pictures (and I tried to hide it) My girlfriend even didn’t like the pasta she got, so.. very disappointing.

What can we say about mother Anna’s Boston? This is an old school Italian joint. Pastas were cooked perfectly, el dante all around the table. Although I asked for pesto twice with my gnocchi I ended up served a marina red sauce which lacked any type of flavor. Even a few fresh cuts of basil would have sufficed as I prefer my sauces with basil and garlic and this red was really salted tomato sauce. Lobster risotto was okay, lobster definitely the star but the arborio rice was a bit too dense and heavy, not a bit of crunch or toasty grain. The same rating for the scallop fettuccine, a very heavy sauce with just no taste aside from cream. The shrimp and mushroom saute was probably the tastiest of the bunch but that is due to the olive oil and wine. Mother Anna’s Boston would be a great place for entertaining business clientele or lunch. We recommend splitting plates for family dinners to try out more than the usual plates. Definitely a walkable location through the north end and not a long wait as some of the other restaurants in the area. Recap, came in for a family dinner, portions are very satisfying, and shareable but tastes could be improved.

The atmosphere was very lively because it’s at the “front” of Hanover St. We were able to find a table on their outdoor patio which allowed us to do some great people watching as everyone walked by. You had a good view of the skyline and the sound from the cars wasn’t too bad.

Food was not bad but not great and it’s not family friendly. No option for a smaller portion for kids. We were told we could order a side of pasta for my child. We were charged the $17 for a full plate. $10 charge to split plates, I would guess that’s common in the north end. I would recommend Joe’s waterfront for families. Right on the water, good kids menu.

Stopped in for a beverage on way to our ghost tour. Not able to sit in courtyard without ordering food.

My friend and I really enjoyed this place for the drinks. We didn’t order food because we had already eaten but our bartender Christopher was awesome. He entertained us with conversation and was super helpful with helping us decide what cocktails to get. He even made us ones that weren’t on the menu. You could tell he enjoys what he does and is good at it as well! I would definitely come back whenever I’m in town.

We had been sightseeing in Boston around 7 hrs at this point and just wanted to sit and have a cold beer/cocktail. In order to sit in the outdoor portion here we had to order food. We weren’t ready for a full meal and my travel companion isn’t an adventurous eater. He only eats ranch on salad and think apps like cheese sticks

Came here with my partner on a Monday night because other Italian places in the neighborhood were all full, and we regret it. Gnats/fruit flies pestered us at our table for the majority of our meal. My baked pasta dish was not hot all the way through, and I had to send it back to the kitchen. My partner’s dish tasted okay–nothing special–presentation was lacking. The bathrooms are dingy. This place has the potential to be cute, but food and ambiance need an upgrade.
