Being a local I have been by College Street Cafe thousands of times. The wife and I was on the west side and side to stop and have breakfast. They were busy three workers in the back and one waitress and they work like a will oil machine. I had country fried steak and my eggs over medium which was perfect and with home fries and biscuits and gravy. The country fried steak was pork. The wife has Denver omelette which was huge and very good which hash browns and biscuits and gravy. And the coffee was always flowing. I would highly recommend this to anybody who wanting breakfast. On route 66 Springfield, Missouri.

Great hometown style cafe. We felt welcomed. We loved our food. The signs on the wall were hilarious. You have to go at least once. We overheard people in another booth say, “We keep trying other places, but they just aren’t as good. So we always come back here.” We may be right there with them after our first visit. The 66 Car Museum shares a parking lot and is worth a visit before or after you eat.

I went for breakfast with a friend. We got a booth & immediately had a waitress come and bring menus and she took our drink order and brought drinks. We waited several LONG minutes for someone to take our order. There were 4 waitresses standing there talking, laughing & socializing together near us. I finally interrupted them and ASKED if someone could take our order. We finally got to place our order. Food arrived. My friend’s eggs were runny. My omelet was ok but not nearly as good as Cedars South. I won’t go back. Once was enough. The food might have tasted better to me if the wait staff there worried half as much about good customer service as they did about boring cafe gossip.
