Not sure what we were getting ourselves into, while visit Columbia, we saw the sign for the rooftop bar and figured we’d give it a shot. Sure glad we did. Loved the vibe up there. Not really a complaint, more of a comment, they only had (2) bartenders working, and a bar-back and the place was packed. From a patrons perspective, a 3rd bartender and/or a servers roving and taking drinks from those at the couches would have been great. From a business perspective, no doubt more drinks and food could have been sold. However, they might do that and we just got them a night where they were down people. Beyond some extended waits at the bar for drinks, the service was great the drinks were greats and the ambiance was great. Views were lacking, but ya can’t have everything. We’d totally go back, without a doubt!

My Lady and I got dressed and went out a few weekends ago. We stopped at Hendrix to check out the rooftop. But it was too packed for what we wanted that night. But trust and believe we’ll be back up there soon. We decided to eat downstairs in the main dining area. It was quiet and peaceful..just what we wanted before the turn up later on .

This is now one of my favorite go-to spots. From service to the food, every moment was wonderful.

The mushroom toast was ok. The vinaigrette was a bit too sour. The quail salad was really good but needed more quail. The chicken was amazing. Well cooked.

It was the cutest, local, & chic experience right in the heart of Cola. Roof top scene for a couple of cocktails. Enjoyed the grass backdrop with the restaurant name. Cocktails were strong enough to last until we ate din din. Went back downstairs to dine-in. The table setting was cute with a rose in the glass and the wall art around the room was pleasant to look at. The staff were friendly and informative. The food was OMG good. I went based on high reviews and it lived up to it. I ordered a steak and grits dinner that had a sauce with okra in it and something else but it was good. I tasted another dish with fried quail and red peas and collard greens like OMG y’all it was the finest southern dining experience I’ve had this far

Hendrix never disappoints us. On our last visit we sat at the bar and received top notch service. Our order of Shishito Peppers and Burrata Cheese were awesome. We didn’t go up to the rooftop bar but the weather is changing so maybe next time.

The rooftop area is cozy and inviting. Great ambiance. Grabbed a few small plates and a couple of drinks and throughly enjoyed all of it (blue crab hush puppies were my favorite). The only thing lacking was an inviting staff. While efficient, the gentlemen working the rooftop bar lack the warmth and friendliness I’ve become accustomed to when dining in Columbia. Would be an easy five stars had they been more engaging.

Update 3/7/23: This is still one of my favorite places. I generally order small bites since I gravitate towards the rooftop. I’ve also tried the deviled eggs, and mushroom toast, which were all great. This visit they had an off menu special of a sweet potato covered with braised short ribs, greens and goat cheese. It was a good dish… could have been great if the meat had more seasoning. I do give a thumbs down on the mussels. They were tasty but extremely small. Also, the lamb ribs have been discontinued… just FYI

I can’t speak highly enough about this restaurant. I’ve been here many times, and the food, drinks, and service are consistently top notch. Parking is a challenge, but that’s everywhere in downtown Columbia. My favorite entree by far is the pork chop. It will not disappoint! The atmosphere is casual but classy, not pretentious. The rooftop bar is fun, but doesn’t accept reservations (first come first serve). The restaurant does accept reservations, and I definitely suggest it during their busy college times.

Drinks on the rooftop was a nice atmosphere but the bartenders acted like they didn’t want to serve anyone but their friends. They were out of the two beers my husband asked for and the bartender didn’t offer an alternative or even a suggestion instead. Cocktail was good. I wouldn’t rush back here.
